Once you start shooting suppressed subsonic 9mm on steel you won’t want to stop! In this video we’ll look at an economical subsonic load using Berry’s 147 grain plated bullets, the Dillon RL 1100 reloading press, and more.

NOTE ABOUT VELOCITY DIFFERENCE:
In this video I was surprised because I thought the Banshee has a longer barrel, but it’s actually listed as 5″, where the Glock 17 is typically 4.48″, with threaded barrel it’s about 5″! So no big surprise that the average velocities were less than 4 FPS apart…

  1. Hey Gavin

Loading and shooting sub-suppressed has become my favorite! Anything from 22lr — .308 (Silencerco Spectre II to Surefire Ryder 9Ti to Omega 300).

My favorite 9mm sub load so far is Berrys 147gr over 4.4gr HS6. Results from AR9 6” barrel ~950fps. This load is quiet, feeds reliably and accurate enough for my use inside 100 yds. Have also loaded HP38 and 124gr which works reliably but isn’t as quiet.

  2. Great video! I think why the velocities are so close is that the powder burns fast enough for the Glock's 4.5" barrel and that the longer barrel of the banchee has no significant advantage wrt velocity over the Glock.

  3. Hey Gavin. Your subsonic load sure looks to be a great performer! Just felt like I should mention that the Osprey user manual states, "A Fixed Barrel Spacer (not included, part number AC22) should be used in place of the spring if the piston mount is used on a pistol-caliber firearm with a fixed barrel. Otherwise damage to the piston can occur." Take care and safe shooting.
