Pistol caliber carbines are a lot of fun and can be very affordable to shoot. But do they have any other applications?

  1. Does muzzle flash, hearing damage, or concussive force mean nothing to you.

You will experience all 3 with the PCC, but at a fraction of what you can expect from the 5.56 equivalent.

  2. I have to say another good use for a pistol caliber carbine is good for home defense in close neighborhood and areas where you are concerned about over penetration, but you would like the stability of a full-size weapon or the advantage of all the accessories You can click on something like an AR 15 as opposed to handguns

  3. My gf cant hit Shit with a pistol. Nothing. PCC carbine shes bullseye every gd time to the point its scary. Just flip up irons and shes annie Oakley. Well to 25yds 😂 but shes making hits with 9mm out of a 16" barrel. Thats all that counts in my book

  4. Or if you are like me and do competition shooting like USPSA, IPSC, PCSL and want to shoot a rifle, well that is where the PCC comes in. We have PCSL rifle matches which I love here in Dallas/Fort Worth area, but it only happens once a month for rifle caliber PCSL matches.

  5. Use whatever you are comfortable with.
I don't listen to some guy
on YouTube gun boi tell me what and what not to use.
    Training is the key.
Run your PCC if that is what works for you and your situation.

  6. If you have a rifle sized gun use rifle size cartridges.. this is why sub guns exist.. I can see the caliber cross argument with big bore, I.e. 45 colt 44 or 357 mag. Good thing it's not 1880! I hate to quote a monster but a broken clock is correct twice a day. A pistol is for fighting to a weapon…

  7. lts talk about the advantages of rifles
1 in 99% of cases, even standard ball rifle ammo is going to be better at stoping targets than any pistol round.
2 intermediate rifle rounds have about the same recoil as blowback pccs.
3rifle rounds are far less likely to jam or be a dud than pistol rounds. 4 rifle rounds like 300blk actually fit in guns like the sig rattler smaller than most pccs
4 pccs are still subject to nfa rules and need a 16-inch barrel or a tax stamp.
    5. A lot of short pccs have pistol length barrels anyway and offer no advantages over a glock in a brace like the flux raider.

  8. Gun snob.
In some states you can hunt with certain caliber pcc's,
Some people prefer a rifle but don't want to over penetrate or don't like harder recoil or the louder noise.
Not all PCC's are AR style.
Then there's the same ammo as the pistol discussion.
    Yah, gun snob.

  9. Disagree completely. 9mm out of a 8-10” barrel is ballistically superior to coming out of a 4-5” handgun. More accurate. Easier to shoot. Same battery of arms as your rifle so you know what you’re doing in the dark. Less flash and noise to affect the wife and kids. Less over penetration. Perfectly good home defense gun. 16” barrel is pointless because the round loses energy after about 12” and you can’t take corners as well.

  10. I run a MP5 clone for HD with Critical Defense. I live in an apartment and while 9mm will still go through plenty of walls its isn't going to pentrate like 5.56 will. My GF can accuratly shoot my MP5 unlike any of my pistols.

  11. These are GREAT for home defense over 5.56. I don't need rounds going through multiple walls. My FPC is lighter than my AR, and folds in half so it's easy to store under my bed and grab quickly. It's not nearly as loud as my AR.

  12. "Ballistics by the inch " has many charts showing velocity to barrel length comparison with several common brand options for each of many popular cartridges including pistol cartridges .

  13. Dude is wrong and right. The performance envelope of your chosen round depends completely on your necessity. A rifle round has a far greater performance envelope could over penetrate easily. Subguns offer more control and less recoil than a rifle or pistol. Soooo

  14. If something goes “bump-in-the-night” a PCC is, in fact, a near perfect horse.
“Bump-in-the-night” is not threatening from 200 yards or even 200 feet. PCC with flashlight and tritium is perfect.

  15. You guys have a lot of dumb takes, but this might be the worst.
You can’t say a PCC isn’t good for “bump in the night” home defense, but a pistol is.
    Ridiculous statement by any metric.

9mm, 10mm, 45acp ALL perform better through barrels that are longer than 5”
    (This also applies to 22lr, 22mag, 38, 357, 40, 44s, 44 mag etc etc.)
1 primary complaint of pistol calibers is that the pistol barrels don’t allow for complete gas expansion prior to the round exiting the barrel.

3 points of contact are always better than 2. And significantly better than 1 point of contact.

    Sight picture is far better.

This IS NOT A BATTLE RIFLE.
    Get out of this mindset.
    A majority of homes:
do not have a span more than 15-20 meters where contact would be made
    HAVE NEIGHBORS,
More people live in apartments/ condos / townhomes / shared lot line dwellings than single family residence with great expanse of property.
People in above dwellings are far more likely to find themselves in these scenarios. (Urban / suburban environment)
Under penetration is a priority when your ceiling is someone’s floor, your floor is someone’s ceiling, and walls are shared. This applies to most suburban homes/neighborhoods as well (due to close proximity).
This also applies to family members/ children/ roommates/ INSIDE the home / dwelling.

Subsonic available for 9 and .45 and both are suppressible. subsonic means no sonic boom. Also means no over penetration.

A long gun is more intimidating than a pistol, and a perp will not discern between calibers.

A long gun is far more user friendly / entry level than a pistol.

Direct blowback is a very simple, very reliable, very user friendly system, that’s easy to operate, clean, and maintain

Most indoor ranges will only allow pistol calibers. Train how you fight. If you’re going to be fighting indoors, you better shoot indoors. An indoor range is as close as most shooters are going to get.

Red dots / Optics / lights are FAAAR better for / on long guns.

Ammo is cheaper (the only thing you got right)

223 sucks for home defense. It’s a 22 caliber bullet going 3000fps. It’s an underperforming / over penetrating nightmare.

    .223 sucks in general.

    Terrible take on this.
    Your position is so antiquated.

  16. I would honestly rather reach for my 10.5 9mm ar with a can and heavy subs than my 10.5 5.56 for something going bump in the night. At 15 feet they are both going to put a hurting on anything downrange but only one will make my tinnitus worse.
