Blackhawk Lower Parts Kit Review – LPK PTAC Palmetto State Armory

I take a look at the Ptac Blackhawk LPK, which was recently close-out priced at $29.95 during Palmetto State Armory’s Christmas sale. It is a full LPK with fire control group and in lieu of the A2 plastic grip, it comes with the overmolded rubber Blackhawk grip (made by Ergo Grips). Everything you need to build out your lower receiver.

  1. Was your dis-connector out of spec? i have the same kit and mine was hitting the hammer before firing making for a very stiff trigger pull. Have a video on my channel on the kit and how i modified it

  2. Just a note- smithing is required of ALL LPK..Note NONE are a matched set.. YOU need to plueprint for best results. The grip retails at 20 plus ship so the parts vale comes to FREE.. No bitchin here I bought 20 set just to have for the future..

  3. Bag #1 – takedown & pivot pin detent springs (2), magazine catch spring, buffer retainer spring, safety selector detent spring, boly catch spring
Bag #2 – magazine release button, bolt catch roll pin, takedown & pivot pin detents (2), safety selector detent, bolt catch plunger
Bag #3 – Safety Selector, Magazine Catch, Bolt Catch,  Takedown Pin (flat spot on end), Pivot Pin (round end), Buffer Retainer
Bag #4 – Trigger, Hammer, Disconnector, Trigger Pin, Hammer Pin, Trigger Spring, Hammer Spring, Disconnector Spring
Bag #5 – Trigger Guard, Grip Screw, Grip Screw Lock Washer, Trigger Guard Roll Pin
And, finally, the nom de guerre: the Blackhawk! Ambidextrous Grip
("Rebranded" Ergo  w/o brand logo, lol)
I wish PSA included a spare takedown/pivot pin detent & spring AND a slave pin for trigger/disconnector install.

  4. The Blackhawk! grip sells for about $20 at Walmart.com, and Ergo sells them (with their logo) for about $25.  If you really like the Ergo/Blackhawk! grip, then the PSA PTAC LPK is certainly a great deal for $30.  Though, keep in mind that shipping is about $10…which really kills the value.  Buying multiple kits or other items helps to mitigate the shipping price, but they charge nearly as much for combined shipping.  For example,  shipping a lower costs $7, for shipping two it costs $14, all the way up.
I can't speak for the PTAC branded stuff, but my PSA Classic Black Oxide LPK was pretty good.  But, I prefer RRA or CMMG because I can get free shipping on those from many retailers…meaning that the difference in price is only about $5-10 to get name-brand and avoid the "PTAC debacle" that PSA is currently suffering.
Oh, and PSA is notorious for 1-month+ waits before shipping.  Buyer Beware!
