  1. This bore sighter was obviously sighted in at the factory. Most of them have to be adjusted by turning the two hex screws on the side of the bore sighter itself. Place it in a drill, turn it making small adjustments till the dot stays in one spot then place it in the barrel of the gun you want to zero in.

  2. Actually I’ve heard the opposite, that the cartridge style devices aren’t “underwhelming” in fact they are generally more accurate and consistent than muzzle mounted ones because they sit in the rifle’s chamber and align with the bore axis, while muzzle units depend on how well they fit the muzzle or crown, which can introduce slight misalignment, especially on rifles with flash hiders like an AR-15.

  3. I tell you I have a nightmare of a time sighting in offset dots (45 and top
Dot) my cheapo bore sight from Amazon got me exactly where I needed for be with my laser and offsets. Don't really need this for a primary optic tho.

  4. These are only really good to get horizontal alignment of the scope in close enough alignment with the barrel.

These are pretty much useless to try to adjust the vertical zero due to it being a laser and only point in a straight line and can't account for bullet drop the further out you go, so you have to adjust vertical alignment completely manually depending on what range you're setting for zero.

  5. I’ve had an older version of this for about two years, and it has always done a great job for me. I love it. The various tips allow me to bore site all the firearms they have, and the batteries don’t burn out in a big hurry.

  6. Curious, do you not measure for Height Over Bore at the closer distance and then put reticle on that. Obviously you are just getting on paper, but curious if you factor for that if in close before shooting out at distance?

  7. there is no way in hell the specific caliber one performs "underwhelming". I would much rather have something that is caliber specific than one you just stick in the end of the barrel and up its concentric.
