  1. I have a 7" PSA AR pistol in 5.56mm and love that thing. Although with mine I got a bit more recoil compared to my 16" AR which has a mid-length gas system. That being said, I use PPU 55 grain SP in mine and they are absolutely devastating. I get about 2300 FPS from those and feel quite confident that they'd drop a home intruder easily. I also find that the PPU ammo is more accurate that typical Federal XM193 FMJ or M855 FMJ ammo. The small size of these AR-15's really lend themselves to CQB in a home defense emergency as it's easy to maneuver through doors and tight hallways without having to lower the barrel. I use a cheap UTG red dot on mine that so far has worked great but probably will be upgrading that one to a Sig Romeo 6 red dot with the "shake awake" feature so I don't have to worry about turning it on in an emergency. I also use 45 degree offset iron sights as a backup like you have on your AR pistol. Overall I love the gun. The only downside is the enormous blast it makes. I partially reduced that by installing a stoner Linear Compensator which projects more of the blast and sound forward. That way people don't hate me so much at the gun range. 😛

Anyways overall great review. I would only advise against using the hollow point rounds. Most of those actually don't expand very well and are more to assist with ballistics. That's why you usually see them called "Open Tip Match" ammo (OTM) or Boat-Tailed Hollow Point Match (BTHPM) ammo. The heavier grain of those bullets workers better for longer range accuracy. But for short range, they tend to over-penetrate. That's why I stick to 55 grain soft points. They seem to be perfect for the shorter barrel length 5.56mm AR pistols. Try out the PPU SP ammo. They're usually not too expensive and very accurate. I think you'll be impressed.

  2. Really Liked the review and was a part of my decision to purchase. Thanks for the candid review. Is there any chance to do an addendum review that would show each of the different ammo types through the same material. May show each type through the same 9-10 wood boards to see complete penetration of each. Not a negative comment just a suggestion . Thanks!

  3. So I finally fired this at the range today. I love this gun!! After my first shot, I heard some guy blurt out "GAWWWDDDD DAMNNN"!!! It's loud and imposing even though it's small. People young and old like my set up. Spitfire prism scope, 45 degree offset sights, and a magpul angled foregrip. Took me a bit to zero my sights, but after I did, i was hitting the bullseye from 20 to 50 yards. I put 150 rounds through it and not a single malfunction. I can't say enough good things about this ar pistol. Smith and Wesson knocked it out the park with this gun.
