The biggest handicap he has at 300 is the scope. That is not a good scope setup for 300 yards.
Need to have low parallax and magnification. Those loads drop around 3 feet at 300 + any wind must be taken into account. Its really a great 200 yard cartridge in a AR bolts can do 300 a bit easier using 450BM bolt only ammo.

450 hits 300 all day.
I can hit bowling pins at 300 yards with every shot with my Bushmaster 450. I'm shooting 300gr FTX at 2130fps.
What kind of buffer tube and Spring do you use ??
I'm in a toss up on whether to get a 450 Bush upper or the cva hunter 450 bush. I know the semi-auto is never quite as accurate but at 300yds or less, is it not that noticeable.

What lanser magazine did you say you were using. Having no luck with 223 mags. Can’t find 450Specific mag. Thanks
I had a similar stock on my AR-450BM and barrel without a break. It beat the snot out of me. I mean it was painful to shoot. I put a muzzle break on the gun and it made all the difference in the world.
I bought the Ruger model and just love it. Best deer rifle ever. Now I see at the gun store is a long barrel model from Ruger that has been cerakoted and its sexy even at $600
I got a Nikon bdc scope on my ruger 450bm I can hold 6"group at 300 yards. My wife smoked a buck at 130 yesterday!

I just ordered my .450 Bushmaster upper. I cant wait to get it in and start shooting.
