Finally. A true “multi-caliber” rifle is here. Sure others have hit the market with the label of multi-caliber, but Windham Weaponry’s new MCS doesn’t require a degree in mechanical engineering and an armorers tool kit to convert it. Here’s a quick video that Paul did not even an hour after the MCS from Windham arrived. (It was done in his back yard!)

Stay tuned to Legally Armed America (www.LegallyArmedAmerica.com) and Windham Weaponry (www.WindhamWeaponry.com) for more detailed and instructional videos as well as a full review series on the revolutionary MCS rifle! Ask your dealer how to get one!

  1. Conversion kits are cool if you are at the range and don’t have much space to carry all your rifles with you but my preferences are always to have dedicated rifles. I know could be more expensive but it’s just me.

  2. Stop being cheap and just build the rifle that you want. This is a great product for the "how cool" crowd. Or the crowd that can't figure out why they're $250 AR-15 won't cycle ammo as well as the $1,500 AR will. I'll say it one more time..STOP BEING CHEAP AND BUILD THE 7.62!!!! Let's be honest. If you're all about how cool it is then think about how cool those rifles will look sitting next to each other. Just saying..

  3. F*@$ that, just get a Colt le901-16S. It comes in .308 and accepts ANY MIL-SPEC ar-15 upper using the magwell adapter that comes with it. Remove the .308 upper, attach the magwell adapter to the 5.56 upper, swap the buffer tube springs, drop the upper in and lock the pins. Boom, done in 30-45 sec.

  4. why would u ever want to change it to 7.62? 556 is way more accurate and causes more penetration damage. so much so that when the 556 round was first introduced, it was considered controversially inhumane.

  5. Actually cheaper than the original MGI uppers

    Windam MCSv1 (5.56 + .300BLK): $899
MGI Hydra Quick Change Upper (single Caliber) $799 + second Barrel Assembly $289 = $1089

Windam's 7.62×39 package (the Commie + 5.56 ) option goes for including a couple AR style mags and a full second BCG, hence the $999 price tag…which still mellows out to a deal compared to MGI

I'm building an MGI Hydra right now (got a deal on their stripped interchangeable magwell receiver in October) was building it out as a 7.62×39 base (went UBR and MIAD on furniture, better fits the rifle's gimmick + 'Bolt & Pin' core eliminates having to lug around a full extra BCG)…just got their AK magwell, the MCS has sparked a small change in plans.

    Original Plan: MGI Upper in 7.62 for $799 + MGI .300BLK conversion package for $555 + MGI 5.56 Barrel Assembly for $289 = $1,643 (mercifully spread across ~6 months…except for MGI's $30 'economy' shipping )

NEW PLAN: Windam MCSv1 (5.56 + .300BLK) from Cheaper Than Dirt for $864 (CTD actually bellow MSRP for once) + MGI 7.62 Barrel Assembly for $289 + MGI AR style Interchangeable Magwell (remember I already got an AK style removable Magwell) for $275 + MGI 7.62 Bolt and Pin set for $125 = $1,553…I could manage the MGI stuff in one go so I dodge the shipping gouge (1 $30 shipping expense verses x3) and not only is CTD $35 BELLOW market…Shipping is practically nothing (bonus I'm in Texas too.)

  6. Serious question. So the benefit of this system is we can use a standard AKm magazine? Because any AR can just swap the complete upper + BCG and use a magazine that's design for AR mag wall but feed 7.62 x 39 ammo. Am I missing anything?
