Stop Wasting Money On Optics for Your AR15!

NEVER spend more than 50% of the purchase price of your rifle on optics! NEVER! That is, unless you have a job that requires you to run to gunfire, or attack on-command.

Become very proficient in the use of iron sites, then add reflexive optics (red dot-type), and them add magnification. If you can have a single optic that provides reflexive target acquisition as well as magnification (fixed 3X – 5X), you should consider buying.

Consider all features before making a final decision.

  1. Man, I am so used to seeing you w/o hair that I got a good throwback surprise when I watched this one! Excellent commentary, also. There are some excellent optics out there for well under 500 bucks, and several heavy duty options that are under 250! Irons first, but my eyes are not what they used to be. Currently running irons only, but looking at some Primary Arms products that run well and won't break the bank! Stay Strong!

  2. lol you know this video sucks when it's got more dislikes then likes 😂😂😂
If I were to use my AR15 to shoot someone in my house, I'd ignore my scope and just aim the damn gun at the guy….guess what? Bet I'd hit that sob too!!!!

STOP MAKING YOUTUBE VIDEOS YOU OLD PRICK 🤪

  3. I spend equal amounts of money, the cost of my firearm is as much as my optic, my optic sometimes is higher, just me though but I am a long distance shooter not an AR long distance shooter, I think ARs have their place in the 0 to 500 yard range and can effective in those ranges and some situations but so are a lot of weapons, how ever I use a bolt weapon for my long range pursuits in my opinion if the target will need to be dispatched at say 7 to 800 meters and you know it's going to be a high value target, I want to know if the target is going to take another sip of coffee or throw it out and walk back in the hooch and only good glass gives you that type of clarity, in a combat scenario not for home defense the all you need I s a good pump shotgun with a flashlight. !

  4. For the applications you mentioned you can get quality for under 1k but not really under 500 or 600. For the AR15 caliber and precision I have, I need something closer 100% or in the 2000-3000 range or it would be like putting wood wheels on a Ferrari.

  5. I'm not sure why anyone would want an optic on their AR anyway. I made Marksman on the M16 every year during my military career with just Iron sights, sending a projectile down range to a 100 yard target. A friend of mine, who is a former Army Ranger, battle sighted my AR at 50 yards and got it as close as possible to zero. Then, we went to 100 yards and there was very little change in my grouping. Then, at 150, I was hitting a steel target with the use of Iron sights 100% of the time. Then he stepped up and was plunking the steel at 300! Only optic he says he'll ever buy for an AR is a thermal imaging optic he used during night missions.

  6. I think this guy needs to sell his car Office chair. You don't need an office chair it's not like you sit there for hours on end. Sure it's nice to have but do you really need to spend 100+ dollars on an office chair. You really only need a bucket to sit on if you have to sit.

  7. An AR-15 is perfect for someone who is less physically capable of handling a handgun or shotgun for home defense. I would agree that other than iron sights, 3x tactical prism sights would be my next choice for close quarters home defense. However if I could afford it I would buy night vision that could easily run 2x or more the cost of the AR-15. Cost between the weapon and optic is irrelevant.

  8. I think I may have spent 7% of the value of my rifle on an optic and it works fine. The glass isn't coated with high quality material and eye relief sucks…but it holds zero and puts .85" groups downrange.

  9. In you defense I thing you may be trying to make a good point but I only made it to 3:55. You came off like an a.s.s. Hole and yes you did say this was not for me. So make a new vid drop money, and size and from there. Open or back up sight are good and should be in place and known how to use. For an optic don't over power your weapon, but that being said you should buy the best you can afford it may not be the most $$$ But as mister wizened will not tell you is good glass is an investment and con move from gun to gun. Congress my first comment sense YouTube started what an ass hole.

  10. This whole video is just funny as fuck coming from a guy with an optic and irons that both could break with one simple fall onto concrete. Have fun dying if major looting happens in your city or if civil unrest ever happens which it likely will within 20 to 40 years.

  11. You should always spend more than 75% of the price of your gun on the optic that you put on it. This dudes video is pure shit he had no idea what he's talking about. This guy has no idea what a practical defensive situation is. Every firearm you own should be set up for a SHTF situation and not just for a home invasion. There could be a natural disaster anywhere in the U.S. at any time and often after natural disasters looting happens on a major scale and you should be set up for that. You should set your guns up for the worst case scenarios not the best case scenarios. Even in a home defense situation the shitty low quality optic this guy has on his gun could easily fail. If its next to your nightstand and when you go to grab it you fumble it just a little and it falls on the ground a 25 -50 dollar chinese piece of shit like what he has could easily break. You should buy optics that are as durable as the gun you put them on and you should always spend around 75% or up of the value of the gun on the optic. THERE IS ZERO POINT OF BUYING A RELIABLE GUN AND THEN PUTTING AN UNRELIABLE OPTIC OR ON IT. this dude even has cheapo MBUS iron sights on his gun which also are easily broken. What happens when something major happens like the california riots and this guy has a shitty optic that will fail as well as shitty iron sights that will fail? Well, he will be fucking dead plain and simple.

  12. Wow bunch of butt hurt tactical bedroom seal operators out there that had their optics survive direct mortar hits. Get a grip mall ninjas most Americans aren’t subjecting their rifles to the same abuse as you homestead warrior operators. If you have the money by all means spend it if you choose too but you don’t really need it. If a cheap red dot got me out of a mess one time and never worked again it was priceless.
