  1. Hey man I live in Leander sounds like you’re from around here. Message me if you wanna go shoot at best of the West I just finished a blackout pistol build I’m pretty eager to shoot.

  2. Hey man I heard you talking about shooting and going to school in central Texas. I also live in Central Texas and was curious on what range you use for longer distance shooting?

  3. You should buy a rock river r3 competion ar..For 1200 to 1500 bucks you will have a sub 3/4 in gun ….Look one up ,,18 stainless fluted barrel with compensator….15 INCH freefloat rail,, 2 stage comp trigger etc…badass guns man…Its my 3rd favorite that I have….

  4. I was thinking about getting a Aero 18", but I got a BCM SS410 18" Upper Receiver kit for my SPR, instead. How is it holding up and working for you?

I am getting 0.99" to 1.22" five shot groups out to 250 Yards, 1.35"-1.94" five shot groups at 475 Yards, 2.5" to 3.175" five shot groups at 750 Yards, with doing my part, but the upper is holding up very well. To be a Designated Marksman on my state's SBI (State Bureau of Investigation) OPROT Team. (We do the same things as the Texas Rangers Field Agents/Texas Rangers SWAT Team Agents for the guys from Texas.) Being a DM on our Team; I have to keep a consistent five shot group up to 3.350"(at most) out to 750 Yards, with qualifications every five days; anything over 3.5" and it is an instant disqualification as a Team DM. My group numbers are from today's qualifications. Our snipers cover everything from 751 Yards out to 2,000 Yards. I am getting 2.45" to 3.2" groups at 150 Yards when I am shooting it select fire(fully automatic, I burst it, four rounds, per trigger pull). I simply slapped on one of our old NFA-exempt FNH M16A3 lowers (that came out of my Agency's Armory). Our Tactical Team Armorer/Armory checks on my rifle every week to make sure the auto-sear spring still works(it needs replacing very soon). I will list the accessories, upgrades, ammunition and prices* for my SPR accessories below:

    Lower Receiver (prices are from my Law Enforcement discounts*): Troy Ambi Magazine Release – $42.50; Geissele HSNM-MR trigger pack(1.8lbs trigger break) – $198.99; S.I. Strike Switch Ambi-Selector – $54.99; Phase 5 extended Bolt Release – $31.99; Aero Precision Billet Trigger Guard – $14.99; JP Oversized Anti-Walk Trigger Pins – $12.75; Fortis LA Stock – $244.57; JP Silent Captured Buffer Spring(Carbine) – $124.25; Phase 5 Receiver Plate – $27.95; Tango Down BG-FG – $34.55, Lancer L5-AWM 15, 20 and 30 round Magazines.

    Upper Receiver: BCM SS410 18" – $563.57; Radian Raptor-SD Ambi Charging Handle – $89.21; S.I. Hex Forward Assist, Black – $12.27; JP VMOS Variable Mass Bolt Carrier(Silent Capture) – $279.56 with JP Enhanced Bolt – $105.24 – $384.80 total; Custom JP 18.75" 1:8 Supermatch Barrel with Thermal Dissipator(I removed the Dissipator) – $305.55; BCE BattleComp BC51.0 – $174.20; Fortis 16" KeyMod Night Rail 556 – $251.45; Troy Offset Dioptic BUIS Kit – $217.50; Steiner Intelligent Combat Sight with Steiner MRDS – $6,250 total(Agency-owned); Steiner M5Xi 1.5-24x Optic(what I bought as a backup) – $2,209.99; Geissele 30mm 0 MOA Precision Optics Mount – $355.42; ; (personal) SilencerCo Saker 556K-51T Suppressor – $1,020.28; (personal) L3 AN/PEQ-16 – $1,422.75; (personal and my backup IR laser) SureFire X400V IRc IR Weapons Light/Laser – $792.45; Accu-Tac FC-10 QD Bipod – $405.90; Personally owned specialty optics(they are authorized for DMR/Sniper usage): TNVC PVS-14 1.0x NVG Optics – $2,798.99; ATN THOR-HD 640 1.5-15x Thermal Rifle Optic – $4,249.98 and a Troy Modular Combat Grip(I need it to lug around a 12lbs to 16.5 lbs rifle with any of the specialty optics mounted).

Ammunition I used: Black Hills Sierra 77gr MatchKing Jacketed Hollow Point – $54/per 20rnd Box. Black Hills Sierra Open Tip Match 77gr OTM – $51/per 20rnd Box. Specialty cartridges/projectiles: M855A1 ERP/M995 FMJ-AP/Mk. 262M0 or Mk. 262M1(depending on what I can get)/Mk318 MOD 0(LEO/MIL sales-only, most of the time) $65-$110/20rnd otherwise. M995 is especially expensive, using a solid tungsten projectiles – $144 for a 15rnd Box, I try to keep 120 rounds on hand at all times, since it will penetrate Level III/III+/IV Steel and Ceramic Rifle Plates. M995 wiil penetrate Level IV+ E-SAPI Plates in 4-6 strikes in the general same area(Team emphasis on DM's shooting groups on shooting under 3.5". 2.8" if you are really good.).

How that helps some one – I get the best groups with Mk. 262M1; which uses a 62 grain Sierra Open Tip Match projectile.

  5. Consistent hits at 500 is very doable. Wind permitting, I'll ping the hell out of the second smallest plate at 750 yards at BOTW (10" or so) with my 20" bull barrel AR. I get hits at 1000, but not consistently like at 750. Maybe I'll throw together a video explaining the qualification process at BOTW, what to take, and how I prepped. Nice rifle and thanks for the vids!
