CMMG Dissent 9mm | First Shots – Better Than the MPX?

CMMG continues to innovate with the 9mm Dissent. For this platform, CMMG is taking their patented Radial Delayed Blowback system from the CMMG Banshee and combining it with an internal spring system allowing for a bufferless and tubeless design (which means folding stocks and braces are on the menu), and then removing the classic AR T-style charging handle in favor of a smooth non-reciprocating side charging handle. With all of these features packed into one compact package, it’s hard not to get excited about the possibilities.

Much like the CMMG Banshee, the Radial Delayed Blowback system in the CMMG Dissent does a fantastic job at reducing felt recoil and wear and tear on components, while also making it an exceptional suppressor host. It’s also offered with multiple lower receiver configurations allowing it to accept Glock mags, Sig P320 mags, or CMMG‘s ARC magazines on their MK4 lower.

I’ve put 400 rounds through my Dissent so far, nearly half of which has been suppressed with my Dead Air Wolfman. In this video we explore the design of the Dissent and bring you along for my first shots on the range. In an upcoming video, I’ll be updating my Ultimate 9mm PCC Comparison list to include the Dissent – it should be very interesting to see where it lands.

  1. I agree about the right side ambi bolt catch/release. I'm right handed, but having one on my WWSD is so nice. It's a quality of life improvement that influences the kinds of lowers and firearms I consider buying.

  2. after a ton of research between ultimately the sig mpx and the dissent i basically came to a lot of the conclusions you did and got the dissent. I got the 6.5" glock mag version 2 days after it was released in april 2023 and at this time i have around 6k rounds through it and only cleaned it once. I have used all types of ammo even 1k steel rounds and it has not had even the slightest malfunction of any kind even with my drum mags. The trigger + reecoil is insane you can mag dump a steel torso within 40 yards as fast as possible and hit every.

  3. if they made one that took cz scorpion gen 1 mags, I'd highly consider buying it. I get it, it changes the training for mag changes, but the cz scorpion style mag is awesome. on yeah, trigger finger bolt release is the future, definitely machine one in.

  4. Heck yea man. Love seeing the channel growing and that CMMG took notice of your work! BTW, I think I personally like this normal this speaking cadence better. Easy to keep up with and easier to follow long with
I'm considering getting into a Dissent in 300 blackout so helpful to see your review on the general platform

  5. Another awesome video. I'm just smiling through the entire montage. The difference in cadence is the first thing I noticed. πŸ˜†Either one works for me. If I hadn't recently bought my Zenith MP5, I'd give this PCC strong consideration. They are both at similar price points. Congrats on getting the gun and I look forward to part 2!

  6. Do they offer this in 10mm?….ok just looked and no! Ahh…oh well, guess my Kriss shall be alone..hehe. I'm interested in the 7.62×39 and the 350 legend though….hmm. Alas f'ing Washington so its a no-go anymore

  7. I built a Banshee based on your videos. I'm absolutely ecstatic to run it once the stamp comes back. Any recommendations for a can? I was looking at Wolfman but I'm concerned about Deadair and their recent whiff on the Sierra. Hopefully I didn't make a bad decision building out a Banshee instead of grabbing up a Dissent.

    Also, awesome video.
