  1. I bought a Ruger Ar 556 some months ago..I’ve wanted an Ar for a while and found the cost to be within reach considering I needed mags, ammo, and other stuff.

To be honest It didn’t run well for the first 5-6 mags.
It would fail to fire and fail to eject several times.

I purposely didn’t clean it before heading to the range. When I first got the rifle it was SOAKED in preservative oil.

I’m a pistol shooter and I’ve never had issues taking a pistol out fresh from the box so I was surprised I was having so much trouble.
Once I took it home, cleaned it (half assed) and took it back to the range it ran pretty good. No failures.

I bought a ton of X-tac green tip and normal tip. I’m cheap so I bought the cheapest crap I could get in bulk. Once the gun was cleaned and lubed it ran great. I focused on the BCG when I cleaned the crud out of it.

    Hopefully this helps someone out.

  2. Just subscribed , good to find someone that knows their business, I do have a question, if Ruger won’t sell you a replacement bolt carrier group is their another bolt carrier that will work in this rifle , I rattle canned mine and it turned out so good I have to be careful where I set it down or I won’t find it

  3. I wanted a basic AR platform (my first), & ordered this model when I found it for $599.00 a week ago. My research indicates it should be solid & reliable. Piecing one to together — with some help from a knowledgeable friend — might've been cheaper, but I decided to go with the Ruger name because their CS is top notch. And my experiences with my other Ruger firearms has been very positive.

  4. All Ruger is trash since Bill died , I've purchased 2 different Ruger weapons post Bill's death , both were complete and other trash
Both were sent back , the 10/22 was supposedly fixed but the issue remained just slightly better
The Wrangler was so atrocious they gave me a completely new pistol which was still atrocious, as a slap in the face they included a target with it that said "15 yards off rest" , it was a 6 inch spread , can't even call it a group, they were all spread out

  5. This a 24 min video u could’ve given a small quick run down in the beginning, about the barrel specs n materials. But I’ll watch the other vids suggested an comeback gangy 🤙🏿

  6. Can't say I've hat a ftf with my Ruger no matter what type of ammo I've ran through it I have had a jamb after 500rds in one day all I did was clear it and it kept going.
I've also had it since 2016 and I completely love this rifle

  7. Mr G&G. Revisit 2 months later. I like what I see with the Ruger AR556. The barrel spec is I think better than one would expect from an entry level AR. That rifle to me seems a solid platform for BCG and trigger upgrades. Along with an M Lock free float fore end. It seems that it would be a good serviceable house, truck and range gun. One you could depend on.

  8. If this barrel is 4140 it is absolutely awesome. 4150 has .1 percent more carbon. 4140 can be heat treated to around 62 rockwell c scale, where 4150 is at most 64 rockwell c scale. Way too hard. It would b so brittle it would break very easily. 4140 is the max that should use. Alot of guns use 8620 which is at most 42 rockwell c scale and drops like a rock at about one quarter in into the metal. 4140 can keep its hardness at about 6 inches below surface. Keep building them with 4140. Yes I am a machinist and heat treat alloy steel all the time.

  9. I absolutely LOVE my ruger AR 556, "even though I've upgraded tons of parts". Sitting at around 6k rounds now and the stock bolt carrier group and barrel are still performing as well as day 1. Only things I changed to were cmc 3.5ibs flat style trigger, mission first tactical minimalist mil spec brace with red paracord, forged charging handle and a surefire Warcomp. Everything else is surprisingly fine and hardly show any age and when using the rifle I've gotten it far too hot than it needed to be BUT I do take her apart after every 200 rounds for a good cleaning. OH YEAH, ALMOST FORGOT! I changed my buffer weight because my ruger seemed to be over gassed so I changed it to one that you could actually take apart and add your own weight to and that allowed me to get the gun balanced out almost perfectly and immediately noticed a much better and consistent recoil. If I had to complain about something on the rifle it would probably be it's weight and severe lack of customization when buying it stock. You're restricted to only 2 points for a sling and if you want to run an optic with magnifier then they need to be micro. I had to remove my back pop up sight to fit the Sig Romeo 5 and juliet3 magnifier and both are the compact versions. Ended up getting a primary arms 1x-8x ffp LPVO which added even more weight with their cantilever mount but that optic really turns the rifle into a do-all gun extremely well.

  10. Thought that the front might still be aluminum because of where the magnet was placed, may have been attracted to the steel front sight blade.

Just cut the post off to make way for a freefloat handguard and it is most definitely made of steel.

  11. The reason it has trouble ejecting and chamber another round is a problem with gas chamber. I had to send my AR back to ruger and they changed out almost all the inner parts for free and the gun has not had any problems since
