Spare Gun Parts All Preppers Should Have
If you are prepping for SHTF and want to keep your firearms up and running, then here’s a list of some spare parts you might need to stockpile now.

Of course there are lots of different firearm platforms and types that people will likely need to maintain during a SHTF scenario. However, for the purpose of logistics and ease of maintenance, I used the AR-15 and Glock as my examples. You can apply the same Glock principals to most any other polymer, double stack, striker fired pistol out there. However, the AR-15 us uniquely easy to not only work on but, to source parts for. If you are set on running something more proprietary like an AK-47, M14 , AR-10 or anything else less universal, then make sure you read up on what parts encounter breakages most often and what tools you would need to be able to perform those repairs.

  1. Are you stocked up on spare parts? Do you think there are any that I missed or that would be good to have as well?

  2. I’d add lube, just a small bottle/tube. ARs love to run wet and helps with rust/corrosion. Usually only spending 10-15 bucks a bottle, lasts a while. Great job

  3. I'm a amateur gunsmith, not only do I have extra parts for my stuff but incase I need to repair for others, and all of the basic tools to do so, also just stocked up on enough cleaning supplies to last me many many years.
Make sure to get a few extra sets of iron sights. None flip up type, alot of people nowadays don't have any other than maybe the BUS types… good to get you going right now but you will want good solid sights when you get home.

  4. As I upgrade to better parts, I keep all of the "old" parts and put them away for an emergency repair kit. I have bought a few extra complete BCGs for a quick replacement. I would say the trigger group and BCG would probably be the items most likely to go out due to wear and tear.

  5. Funny, I just ordered some Stoner spring kits this week. Watch the sales, you can pick up a complete Stoner upper (hand guard, barrel, upper receiver, bolt carrier group, everything), relatively cheaply and either use it for parts or just a quick change out.

  6. This GOV is putting in the final cigarette and after comes the firing squad. Firearms in Canada can be just confiscated, but until the Constitution final few lines are laid out as arrested, and they already are, you still get firearms and ammunition. However, be aware government USA spends the cost of a car new, or more per citizen just to know you and keep you in line four of these per year, or more of every type dependent upon how much of a vehicle you are worth! We have always been to government only military vehicles they bash upon until you move! So, if you love yourself do nothing! The whole are war games to get you full electronic prisoner systems. Who lives, and who dies is who the medical community desires to care for! So, be ready you socialists you’ve been recruited as Nazi and fascists to take yourself out and down into a deeper hole! Get to digging and have your last cigarette. But, seriously just do the electronics, they too soon fail. The only control you’re hating most are the bugs. But, if you lack food you’ll eat the salted sugared bugs!🕷🦟🪰🐌🐜🪖😱😱😱😱😱😭😭😭😭🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢☠☠

  7. In times of shtf…one of the MOST important parts is replacement barrels…most of these other things simply dont wear out..note I didnt say all…and let's not forget..if the unspeakable happens there will be plenty of parts laying on the ground…

  8. Great advice as usual! As a gun collector I used to think I needed two of everything exotic (Tavors come to mind) in case something broke or wore out, but your reply to a comment of mine a year or two ago changed my mind on that. ARs and Glocks are the meat and potatoes of a long term defensive SHTF armory, and while my unicorns can fight alongside them, I should have a deeper, narrower stockpile of standardized equipment that interoperates… like the military would logistically standardize an armory. 9mm/5.56 ammo, mags, guns and spare parts are the cornerstone of those standards.

  9. Small armourers kits for main battle or patrol carbine, are mandatory for shtf.
AKM owners should keep spring kits and bolt parts- especially american made AKMs

Good video and great subject materials.

  10. I think I need to pick up gas tube and the upper vise block tools. I’ve got the armorers wrench. Otherwise I think I’m good for the rifles exceeding the parts supply listed. Pistols have been another matter – can anyone source parts for anything but Glock? Seems like nobody sells the parts anywhere

  11. For the bolt carrier group every now and then palmetto and a few other places will have them for sale with like 10 pmags for like $150. Kills 2 birds with one stone as extra mags are always good to have as well.

  12. Great point most in the prepping community don’t even consider. I remember the second Obama panic and BCGs and lower parts kits were sold out for a year and the ones you could find were three to four times the price they were prior to the panic.

  13. Maybe I'm not agreeing with you because I feel if the fertilizer strikes the ventilator I will use the weapons I have to acquire more. I also expect that my weapons will out-live my ability to use them since I am approaching my seventh decade. You may be generally correct but I know I am right for my circumstance.

  14. Spare bolt carrier group and a spare trigger assembly. Specifically the cassette type drop-in triggers. Dont want to be fiddling with springs and pins in the field. The VAST majority of failures Ive seen are in the BCG and fire control group.

  15. Don't get me wrong. I'm a firm believer in spare parts. When it gets to BCG's and barrels, though, in a real SHTF scenario where I'm firing my weapon enough to burn those out I'd hope that I had been able to collect full AR's from people that didn't need theirs anymore. Either that, or I'm too bad of a shot and someone picked up mine.

  16. AR-Stoner's parts are kinda iffy. I got their 6.5 Grendel mags and it caused an insidious hard lockup jam that made it seem like it was the upper, not the mag. It took a fair bit of work to troubleshoot. Switching to Duramags fixed the issue. I'll go for KAK Industry if I want affordable parts that are top-quality. All my KAK parts have been beautifully finished and they fit flawlessly. They're also the only place to go to for some things, like if you need to build a custom rifle-length buffer.

  17. This has been something I have always done.
You can buy kits that have all the parts but the frame or reciever for a small price.
Having the extra parts is critical.
