10 SHOCKING Things You Didn’t Know About AR-15 RIFLES
First developed in the 1950s for civilian use, the AR-15 rifle was named after its manufacturer, Armalite. Considered America’s rifle, the AR-15 is emblematic of gun culture in the United States. Gun enthusiasts herald it for its versatility and power, whereas gun control advocates loathe its role in so many mass shootings. The AR-15 has a storied history. Over the years, it has evolved to become one of the most popular firearms in the U.S. — and the weapon of choice for mass shooters. Despite its lethal reputation, little has been done on the federal or state level to regulate this type of rifle.
We gathered the top facts about AR 15 that explore what sets this gun apart from the rest.

  1. Sure criminals just use any gun AR Is an amazing gun remember it NEVER the firearm it’s the human behind it also means AR Work for self defence I’d say high capacity yet less penetration than most hunting rifles

  2. Whoaaa, “loathe its role in SO MANY mass shootings”? BY category and availability of “assault tools, weapons”, etc it’s NOT used a lot. Granted, the MORE attention PAID to its “role”, the more popular IT WILL BE. Guaranteed..

  3. Nice, informative video. Thanks.

    But, one thing…
You said in the video at 2:40:
“… the rifle was so successful and popular with GIs that a civilian, strictly ‘automatic’ version, was soon produced, known as the Colt AR-15.”
    Shouldn’t that have been “SEMI-automatic”?

  4. AR rifles being called assault rifles are no different than people calling a rifle a sniper rifle. Assault rifle, Sniper rifle is the media term for these firearms. You can turn any rifle into a sniper rifle. the media will claim any rifle being an assault rifle. Do you remember the DC sniper ? he had a Bush master AR And the media deemed it a sniper rifle, Big misconception. It should be sniper's rifle I mean it is a tool. And AR should be just an AR. Or like you say America's rifle.

  5. everyone claims that they can hit the 12" circle of a man's vitals at 300m. Well, the brain of an elk or moose is a 6" circle, so they should therefore be able to hit that brain at 150m, eh? The shorter distance means that wind, up and downhill grades, mirage, target movement all cause CONSIDERABLY less than half as many problems at hittig a 6" disk 150m than the 308 has hitting a 12" disk at 300m. You can use a baited tree stand at night, and BRACE the rifle on something, with night sights and NVD goggles. Animals dont fear humans nearly as much at night as they do in daylight. So you CAN forage big game just fine with the 223 and 60 gr softpoints
