Forget the Red Ryder BB gun! This Christmas Brownells Gun Tech™ Keith Ford is asking Santa for the Sons of Liberty Gun Works AR-15 Build Kit. He’s joined by special guest Mike Mihalski, founder and owner of SOLGW, to give us a rundown on just what this kit is about. It contains everything needed to build a complete AR-15 for home defense, hunting, or competition, MINUS the stripped lower receiver. (Since the lower receiver is considered a firearm under federal law, it must be purchased separately from an FFL dealer.) Aside from all the premium-quality Sons of Liberty parts, the kit includes a list of all the tools you’ll need to assemble your rifle. There’s even a QR code for your smartphone that’ll take you straight to a SOLGW video that walks you through the assembly process step by step.

Mike calls this an “armorer’s course in a kit.” If you follow the instructions correctly, you’ll end up with an AR-15 that’s on par with a factory-built Sons of Liberty M4-EXO3 rifle, AND you’ll have a thorough understanding of how the AR-15 platform works. The kit comes in a sturdy box with neat dividers that organize the parts so they’re at your fingertips as you assemble your rifle.

Your rifle will have premium upgrades like a SOLGW EXO3 M-LOK® handguard, 16″ barrel with a 5.56 NATO chamber (1-7″ rifling), SOLGW Liberty trigger, B5 Systems stock and pistol grip, and a SOLGW bolt-carrier group built to survive Doomsday. The other benefit of this kit is that the various parts are already properly matched, with the right buffer weight matched to the right buffer spring, for example.

There you have it: one-stop shopping for your next AR-15 build project. And you know…. there’s still time to ask Santa for one for THIS Christmas. But the ONLY place he (or you) can get this kit is Brownells!

  1. In my opinion this is completely STUPID. I looked it up and it’s $1,300. Anyone can go and buy a fully completed AR-15 that’s brand new for that price or cheaper. Especially since it doesn’t come with the lower receiver. I mean honestly your paying $1,300 for something you have to assemble yourself and if you make a mistake when assembling it then you might be screwed depending on how bad you screw up. This kit should be dirt cheap considering your not paying for someone to assemble it.

  2. This would be a great value if it came with the tools needed to assemble it. As it currently sits, it is a $1300 upper receiver you have to put together yourself and some extra parts you can use if you buy a stripped lower. In effect you are paying DD prices for SOLGW quality.

  3. $1300 is too much. You can get a Sionics build complete for close to that (Patrol Rifle Three is $1440) . I feel like this is SOLGW/Brownells version of the Self Checkout Line. It is definitely a quality kit, just not a good value at that price point.

  4. Great Idea. My brother and his wife are getting interested in firearms. They're in their 40's and a bit intimidated by it all. This product is a great idea for people like them. They can watch a video and follow along. Nice Job adapting to the changes in the market

  5. As someone who built my first AR for around 800, I'll tell you my last one was 1500 and it's a night and day difference. I'll happily buy this. I sell guns for a living and 1500 is where rifles really start getting good. Before that they just go bang.

  6. So… 1300 bucks for basically an aero precision build, without a lower, and you have to do all the work.

    🤣🤣🤣

I'm sure there are people who will pay that, but there are many more smart people who won't. This is a laugh.

  7. and I would be willing to say that I bet it is not a budget build Kit either probably will above the $500 mark. don't get me wrong I SOLGW they make and awesome product, but they have "No" intentions of catering to the "poor's" actually now that I think about it, the majority of firearms manufacturers and retailer/dealer do not, such as Brownells y'all have decent prices but still are still not for the forced budgeted recipient. No place seems to want to help out those of us that are low income and forced to buy cheap Chinesiam products off amazon or wish, Hey @Brownell's y'all need a $1. Isle.. lol if you get what I am getting at heck at least try to help us poor's a little bit

  8. Complete BCM upper for $1000, complete BCM lower for 340…1400ish w/ shipping/taxes. Go Aero and it’s even cheaper for similar SOLGW quality.

Why would anyone buy this lol?
