I have a gen 2 side charging upper in .350 legend and have problems with it.rounds jamming or bcg catching spent brass before it can get out.however my regular rear charger in 6.5 grendel works flawlessly from BCA

You say the milspec-style upper is old and archaic. But, both of the features you dislike aid in the usability. Gun might not jam, but, I'd like the option of being able to clear it quickly. You don't like dustcovers? So…you prefer "tacti-cool" over practicality and reliability"? Got it.
Wonder what this would cost today
Those feyachi irons are pretty darn good for the price, they are all metal and work just as good. I just dont like they dont have a spring built in for them to flip up by themselves. I switched to a brand called awotac they look much alike but they are spring loaded and flip up on their own when you hit the button. 30 bucks worth it better then the Magpul sights , they are all metal and have held up great for me so far. Have a set on 3 rifles now, slowly replacing the feyachi sets i have with the awos
Bear creek sends the test fire group target with the upper/rifle you buy? I like that, pretty cool. Also thats a pretty decent group for a brand new barrel, not broke in, low quality ammo etc.
Slick side is nice, but it’s good to have either an assist or reciprocating side charger just in case. I know, I know, you barely if ever had to use it….. but please watch the video of Kyle Rittenhouse having to use his while in a life and death situation. Without it, I don’t think he would have been alive to defend himself on the stand.
