EoTech & AR15 Carbine POV Shooting

A Sony HD camcorder is mounted to the retractable stock of an AR15 carbine, 16″ barrel, giving you a first-person shooting experience through an EoTech 516 Holographic Weapons System. Distances up to 215 yards, laser measured. These distances might appear shorter than they actually are due to the camera perspective viewing through the EoTech. During my February 2012 review, I sighted the EOTech at 50 yards, which provided an accurate 200 yard zero. Just to be clear regarding this setup, I am aiming through the camera viewinder screen, so expect a few misses. Everything with regard to how I hold the rifle, cheek weld, etc. is dramatically impacted by the camera setup….but it works for the greatest majority of the shots.

The AR is a Rock River Arms upper receiver with 16″ barrel and Bushmaster lower. I am using .223 Remington, Fiocchi 55 gr FMJ primarily, but also a few rounds of Hornady 55 gr VMAX.

The “ground target” in the 150 and 175 yard segments is an old homemade boilerplate steel target. All other targets are AR500 steel, including the IPSC target for the 215 yard session. AR500 targets are from Mike Gibson.

  1. I bought an EOTech 512 from the AAFES BX on Hill AFB for $377 in June 2019. Father's day. As an aside, I work for the company that makes them, but not in that division.

  2. Thanks for making the video, its super helpful in picking a sight. Unlike a lot of people here though, this confirmed that the eotech reticle is not right for me. Due to some kind of undiagnosed eye issues I have, traditional eotechs and red dots don't work for me. For red dots, I can't keep my eye focused on the dot, I often lose it and have to go searching for it. With the eotech, aside from my opinion that the 65 MOA ring is distracting on its own, it actually appears to spin left and right slightly to me. For me, the only thing that works as intended is the Holosun HS503 G – the half ring is super thin and not distracting, and it forces my eyes to stay on the chevron. Just thought this might be useful to the other 1% of people who have eye issues like I do.

  3. поставил себе EoTech 2.0 на Vepr 12-00
