  4. Very cool but IMO this would be specifically for training on the AR platform. Otherwise why wouldn't you just get a Marlin model 60 for plinking and such. It's cheaper then the conversion kit.

  6. I'm currently considering this kit . I already have the Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 MOE version . Both of my AR 15 rifles have the same Magpul furniture so are ergonomically quite similar except that the 15-22 is over a pound lighter ( educated guesstimate ) . I have already acquired a few (3) cmmg magazines that I use with my Kel-Tec PLR 22 and my Sig Sauer 522 as well as the 2 black dog machine magazines that came with those weapons . My primary concern is the gas systems . Both rifles are direct impingement . I'm wondering if anyone has fired enough 22lr through an AR 15 to know if any fouling occurs with coated lead instead of jacketed and the dirtier powder used ?

  25. I have one of these. It's a good piece of kit. For someone looking for rimfire AR15 I'd recommend going with either a Tactical Solutions rimfire upper receiver or a Smith & Wesson M&P-1522. You're going to get better reliability and better accuracy, and you're going to avoid getting your rifle's gas system all gunked up with lead & lubricant. (The .22lr is an outside lubricated bullet design, and the wax lubricant is pretty dirty and will clog things up eventually. I'd opt for a copper plated version — like Federal's 36gr copper plated hollow-points — instead of the standard outside lubricated lead bullets.)

    That being said, if you're going to be using an AR15 as your primary weapon, getting one of these to throw in your B.O.B. is a no-brainer. For very little extra weight you get the usefulness of a whole new rifle, and the optic problem can be fixed by simply using two separate optics mounted in QD, return to zero mounts.
