  1. Basic AR-15 cost anywhere between $500-550! Not $1200! Building one cost the same amount as a basic one but it’s going to cost you closer to $900-$1000 for your first build because you have to buy all the tools and machinery. Unless you buy all the tools and machinery from Harbor freight and Amazon then it’s anywhere between $700-800

  2. bought mine. BNIB Ruger MPR. Came with everything i would put on it (if i built it) Got it for 575 cash. Manufactures are building really nice rifles with nice add ons for a really cheap price. Spent 30 on some basic iron sights…i got a full feature rifle for less than 600 dollars, and its factory built with a lifetime warranty thru Ruger. Hard to beat for that price

  3. AR-15, the rifle of your dreams?   Eeeegads….Kids these days..I think I can dream a little bigger than that.  How about a M1A or a Custom National Match?   That's a dream rifle… Besides, $974.00 for a rifle essentially made out of plastic is stupid.  You do realize they used to sell these surplus for $115.00 out of the back of Shotgun News…That was about 1990.

  4. video has become out dated with your cost analysis. need to edit to current costs, which will probably still not change the point of building is cheaper/better but more accurate in the cost difference. One other thing that is not discussed is some companies offer warranties, which may not be available if you build it yourself. Likely not a big factor, but a consideration, especially if the build.buy cost difference is minor.

  5. THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT!!  I just bought a kit  all  MIL. SPEC . with a heavy barrel and looking forward to the build have some really good parts and can't wait for them to get here like you said want to know my way around this gun ….I have others weapons and this is my build. buy the way it only coast my 5 bones….

  6. U had some great points that r useful for a first time buyer/ builder. I'd just like to add that buying an AR is perfectly fine if u love it how it is and don't plan on doing several hundred $ worth of part swapping (but as u said, that's usually not the case.) and when u buy 1 from a well known company you can be VERY confident in the gun smithing that went into it. My first AR was a Daniel defense ddm4v7 and It was perfect to me how it came off the shelf.

  7. What about when you dont have certain tools? I spent $170 on tools for my ar build. I'm not trying to stop people from building but that was one thing no one told me.

  8. Great video. My first AR-15 is going to be one I custom build. It makes no sense to just buy some premade rifle when I could save a crap ton of money build it all myself. But what about buying premade upper receivers? I've heard on the average it doesn't cost too much more to just buy a premade vs building one

  9. AR15's are the Legos of Rifle builds. It's as easy as snapping different sockets on a ratchet wrench. So easy a caveman can do it, and there are many cavemen in the US military. Look what Og do! Oo Ooo..

  10. On Black Friday, I got a Bushmaster Carbon 15 Cal .223/5.56mm, 16" barrel, and with low profiled gas block. I would like to put a 12" Quad rail on it. Is using a 12" free float quad rail the only way to do that? Are there any 12" drop in quad rails I can use? I just don't want to chop off or grind off anything from my rifle like the barrel nut. Also, I search for quad rails for carbide I get 3 sizes 6.5", 6.7" and 7". Does anyone know what size my rifle uses? Thanks

  11. I think building an AR is like building a custom bike! My dream is not someone else's Point, If you ever want to sell it the stock gun be it a Colt LMT,or what ever is worth more than the dream!!!!

  12. What most gun haters don't do is take the time to look at George Washington's (as well as other founding fathers') various letters, documents, and other quotes that help to paint a better picture of what they meant. When this is done, it becomes much more clear that the 2nd Amendment is in place to protect our various freedoms in America. Bans against military style rifles are bogus because citizens are supposed to be able to overthrow their government. (Declaration of Independence)

  13. Unless you are a civilian that lived in a state with really chill gun laws, and you are willing to go through all the licensing and money in order to get an assault rifle. In my opinion it isn't worth it because spraying is just for shits and giggles.

  14. Guess why George Washington was so into the idea of every person having a firearm. It was to be able to overthrow the government if it becomes corrupt. In order to do this you have to fight against you country's military. Now how in the hell are citizens of the US going to overthrow a military that has fully automatic weapons, tanks, jets, missiles, and trillions of spending dollars if the citizens are armed with a bunch of freaking muskets????

  15. i bought my ar-15 brand new in box for 724 dollars thats with tax and fee's and if i spend 400 dollars customizing it to my needs then im still only 1,124 into it well under the 1200 dollars for a basic ar-15

  16. Not to mention sales tax. The only thing I paid sales tax on was my lower. Granted I paid shipping on some of my stuff but it was far far less than the sales tax I would have paid on the entire rifle. I love free shipping deals and maximizing actual shipping costs.

  17. 1200 bucks for a basic rifle?

I think the one thing not considered is the cost of necessary tools to do this. I'm sure there are many out there with the tools but I'm sure I'm missing a few useful things that certainly would make the work easier.
