In this episode of TFBTV, James looks at the brand new CMMG Banshee. This is a 9mm SBR (short barrel rifle) PDW (personal defense weapon) AR15-type carbine that takes Glock magazines. In simpler terms, it’s a reeealllly tiny AR15 that uses the magazines from your Glock pistols. James also runs the CMMG DefCan-9 silencer on this diminutive blaster.

CMMG has announced the addition of a new series of short barreled rifles (SBR’s) and AR Pistols that will be known as the BANSHEE line. The BANSHEE’s sleek new design sports the shortest barrels CMMG offers in 9mm, .45 ACP, 300 BLK and .22 Long Rifle. This ultra-compact and lightweight platform is extremely portable, making the BANSHEE a great option for close protection, home defense, plinking, competition shooting or any other application that benefits from the reduced size.
Each version of the BANSHEE sports CMMG’s new ambidextrous charging handle, as well as an ambidextrous sling plate and ambidextrous safety selector. The BANSHEE comes standard with CMMG’s Premier Cerakote finish, an RML M-LOK Hand Guard and a Magpul MOE Pistol Grip. The AR Pistol versions each come with a Tailhook Mod 2 Brace.
The SBR versions (all NFA rules apply) come equipped with a Magpul MVG Foregrip and will feature CMMG’s new RIPSTOCK. The RIPSTOCK is a new compact butt stock that is fully machined out of 6061-T6 AL and Cerakoted by CMMG. The RIPSTOCK features two of CMMG’s patent pending technologies: FASTBACK and P3. Thanks to FASTBACK Technology, users can simply pull straight back to extend the stock without worrying about a release lever like most AR butt stocks employ. It also features personal position presets (P3 Technology) that allow users to adjust a screw into one of five slots to ensure the stock extends to the same position each time.
The 9mm and .45 ACP BANSHEEs feed from factory Glock magazines and utilize CMMG’s patent pending Radial Delayed Blowback operating system. The benefit of the Radial Delayed Blowback system is that it allows CMMG to use a lighter buffer and carrier than the typical straight blowback design. This reduction in reciprocating mass ensures that both the 9mm and .45 ACP version of the BANSHEE are easily controllable.

"Right-hand only" is kind of a misnomer for that mag release. If you shoot left-handed, you'd be using your right thumb and it wouldn't be awkward at all (unlike the pointlessly cockeyed mag release on an Uzi).

That thing is beautiful. I really wanted a Honey Badger, but now I think I wanna compact it up and go 9mm and get one of those. At that price though, now that I looked it up right after commenting I'd stay away from it even though it looks amazing and I'd love to get some range time with one.

How does the recoil stack up against a vector in 9mm?
This looks like a home run for CMMG. I would have liked to see a slightly longer barrel like a 7.5 inch but it looks pretty cool. Hopefully they can keep up with demand on this sweet little PCC because I'm sure people will be lining up to get them ☺👍
