Distance/close quarters without sacrificing your peripheral vision is a good rig. Balance is the ticket to success…. Provided you put in the range time
Yep, you can tell you’re new to the AR. You’ll probably do a quad rail next and clamp on every attachment accessory available. Years later it will be naked with only a holographic sight. Lol. Best advice I can give, spend your money on ammo and not accessories. The best mod that can be done to an AR is a well trained guy holding it! I meant no disrespect in my comments.
Just finished building my rifle its my first AR15 ill share some things i learned so you dont have to go through the same learning growth
Get a sling it helps a ton Get a decent light you'll need to see what you're shooting at Get a red dot and atleast 2 mags of hollow points if you're using it for home defense so you dont blast your neighbors dog at 4am
all in all you can get "decent" upgrades for under $300 if you wait for sales just dont buy cheap shit it will bite you in the ass i learned the hard way..
OH and dont be afraid to use steel case ammo it saves you hundreds in the long run you can get a case of 1000rds for $300-$400 on a good day compared to the $500+ brass costs
Maybe a free float hand guard with a rail. Swap out the front sight/gas block to a low profile gas block. Magpul backup sights. Check out the angled fore grip too. As others said, look at red dot sights unless you really want a scope. You can get a lighter weight barrel but, I think, at the cost of some accuracy.
I would definitely swap the handguard out. If you're concerned with weight, go with a single piece aluminum handguard. I also recommend deleting the front sight post by switching to a low profile gas block. Side note, that scope is pretty hefty. Look into a lighter scope. Maybe a 1-8×24 LPVO.
If you’re not running a suppressor just use a flash hider, put a smaller scope or a red dot on instead of that one, add a sling and maybe a light depending what you’re gonna use it for
Remove the foregrip yes its surprising how much lighter it is and think about getting a smaller scope ask yourself am I really gunna be hitting over 250 meters? Then just put on a standard A2 flash hide unless you are gunna be running suppressed but basically if you wanna go light think about what can be taken away rather than added
Honestly, besides getting a 1-4 or 1-6 (Primary Arms has a good one for a good price), I’d say invest in training. Doesn’t matter how Gucci your rifle is if ya don’t know what you’re doing. Now I’m not saying that ya don’t know your shit because I don’t know you. I have no idea what experience ya have with this rifle. That said, you can never have enough training. So get 1,000 rounds and get training.
In my opinion (Which doesnt mean much), there isnt much to do that makes it lighter with you having a drop in handguard. Especially with magpul being light as is. Maybe: 1. Changing the stock to a minimalist stock.
2. Changing the bolt carrier group to a lighter material.
3. Changing the buffer and the tube to something lighter. However l, changing the buffer can effect cycling.

When you pull the charging handle out why don't you push it back in
People who say “my father”. Something about it idk

Not much to do to lighten the gun, skeletons ur Attachments, and idk get a flashlight and peq-15
Lighter optic like a reddot would reduce weight. Get yourself a good sling. I like Ferro Concepts slings.

Practice that’s the upgrade you need.

Ditch the scope and get a red dot . Also get new skeletonized furniture

In any case, GREAT choice for your first AR.
