  1. When you come down to brass tacks, it breaks out as follows (1) The Mini 14 is prettier , (2) the AR 15 is accurate right out of the box . . The Mini can be made accurate, but it will still never group like an AR. . (3) The AR can be cleaned from the breech to avoid damage to the crown and , Oh Yeah , The Mini is prettier. In both cases, reliability ? feeding problems have to do with the magazines and the ammunition, nit the rifle.

  2. I have a bolt action for accuracy and a mini 14 for fun. If I were to face combat maybe conditions would demand an AR, but at my age, I doubt I'll be facing combat. I have shot friends AR but they lack charisma and just shoot sweet so to me its mini `14 all day as it has classic character. The plus also is Ruger customer service.

  3. Who made this, I can replace everything of the AR with parts I buy on the internet. If I want a Barton, or Wilson Combat, or Knights Armament barrel to replace on my BCA upper, i can do it… if I want to put an FRT-15 on my PSA lower I can do it… endless combos

  4. I used to have a mini 14 I bought in 1984, put a nice Redfield scope on it but it only could group 3 to 3 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards no matter what ammo I ran through it, piece of junk.

  5. but in the AR stock is a spring that absorbs the recoil almost to nothing so ? I have owned both and I would like to add
out of the box the POS RUger mini has a 4 -6 " group at 100 yards this is atrocious! AR for sure 1" group no problem I mean think
about it if you have 4 to 6 inch group at 100 yards what do you think it is going to be at 200 – 300? You can have them glass bedded
but then it no longer comes apart so ?

  6. I’m just a retired Infantryman (1984-2009) and I bought a 185 series Mini-14GB at a pawn shop for $750 about 6 years ago and that gun is a great shooter. As the narrator says, use factory Ruger magazines to ensure reliability. I bought the Samson stock and the rifle dropped right in, no modification required and I love it. I won’t get rid of any of my AR-15’s, M1A and the FAL but I know that in a pinch, my wife and kids can use the Mini-14 with minimal training.

  7. I have had several mini14’s, I have had a bunch of AR’s. I dont have a mini14 right now, and I would probably buy one, but I think Ruger has gone crazy with the pricing. Mini’s used to be half or even a quarter the prices of a Colt AR, now they are more expensive. It makes no sense. AR’s have several orders of magnitude better selections of parts, tons of triggers, gas systems including piston, stocks, rails, bolts, barrels, calibers, it goes on and on and you can build as many completely different AR’s from scratch as you like. Don’t get me wrong, I do like the Mini, but I like the AR’s more. FInally just finished a completely custom scratch built AR10 in 308 with a suppressor. What a long range hammer.
