I built a 6.5 grendel AR15 on a budget and it turned out awesome. I love the way this gun look and functions. I need to get this thing out and see how far we can shoot with this thing.

  1. A quick thought on the haters…
First , some context: Yesterday I watched a good video by a guy who built a 10.3” 6 max. This HORRIBLY upset my OCD Because of all the wasted energy in such a short barrel. But, it did exactly what he wanted to do which is to be an effective man stopper to 300 yards.
Exercising a great deal of self control, I resisted the urge to tell him he was wrong. Of course, it seems that some of your subscribers can’t quite reign in that impulse.
The moral of the story here is that when people give you shit about what you do with your rifles it just means they’re passionate about it and probably don’t have enough free time and money to do the fun stuff you do.
If you keep that in mind it might be easier to just let that stuff roll off without affecting you.

  2. I have an almost identical 6.5 Grendel build. 24 inch barrel, PRS stock, Geissele trigger, adjustable gas block, and the best scope I could afford. My goal was a rifle to try out long distance shooting for less expense than an AR-10 precision rifle. While the Grendel doesn't have the power for hunting at extreme distance, it does have the range and accuracy to 'ping' a target at 1000+ yards. Completed that build about three years ago. I now have Creedmoor and 308 ARs, but the Grendel still gets range time because its just a fun gun to shoot.

  3. Build a 6.5 and go skeet shootin if you want😂😅😂hilarious. Im just a normal dude that loves the hobby.. "What do you want from me??" In my goodfellas voice. Lol. Great info.. wish we could have seen the grouping at 100 yrds. Very nice build, the 5.56 as for caliber size leaves a little to be desired. I havent seen any complaints on the 6.5G build versus the mountain of issues with some 350 legends.

  4. 6.5 Grendel has fast become one of my favorite cartridges. I now reload for it also. Ruger bolt gun at this time but going to build an AR-15 upper in the caliber. Let haters hate. YOU keep up the good fight and the good videos!

  5. My question is about the bolt, is your bolt just a machined out 556 bolt, it seems that a 6.5 grendel with a larger base should be built on an AR-10 platform if the parts are even available to do that.

  6. 6.5 grendel is a great choice for a multi purpose rifle. I put one together as cheap as possible. I even have a genuine pos polymer lower. It will shoot under an inch at 100 yards, and bust milk jugs easily at 350, which is about as far as ive shot it. Ive got a couple deer, several coyotes, and about 300 hogs with it. Ive used about all of the popular 120 grain class hunting bullets. All have done great. 250 yards has been about my longest shot on a hog, and he went right down hit high in the shoulder with good bullet performance. I aint saying its the best ar15 cartridge bc i havent used some of the others, but its good enough that i probably wont need to try the others. Ill always have one in 5.56, but the grendel is my go to.

  7. I just built a 6.5 Grendel literally just for fun. I used all Aero precision parts as with all my builds, but this time I tried a barrel and bcg from Bear Creek Arsenal. I bought a cheapish scope on Amazon for 130 bucks until I determined I will use Grendel. I will grab a vortex scope for 400 bucks if I end up using Grendel for more than plinking.

  8. I just received my 16" upper receiver from Sanders Arms here in Florida and it's pea shooter at 100 yards. Using a billet lower with mil spec parts nothing fancy. This is the one getting it ready for my next deer hunt. Love the caliber. Thanks for sharing.

  9. Nice. I just built one as well. Super hot for 100 to 300 yards. Great for the price. And, modular with other lowers. I have luth rifle stock as well. I went with 1×6 for the shorter range.
