Depends on the caliber you shoot it with in that platform to be legal.. if you want to use a .223 it will definitely work for hunting.. but not legal hunting..deer that is. In the states.

The very first rifle it shot when I was younger, maybe 8 or 9, was an AR-15. Do you honestly think my dad would have put that rifle in my hands if it was so powerful it would "demolish" a deer?
No both of them are being disingenuous. Yes 308 is the normal hunting gauge but no one is hunting with an ar with a 22. At least be honest and say that it’s a 300 blackout that you’d be hunting with. If you say it’s a 22 caliber you’re only hunting small game and if you’re using an ar for that probably don’t hunt you’re just unskilled at that point

I don't know the rules in all states but I know in the state I live and you're not allowed to hunt a deer with an AR because it is not a large enough caliber rifle
