These were great buys, 25 years ago! For $750 dollars you got a near equal rifle to what the Army and Navy was using. I got one and upgraded it over the years.

Damn that was impressive. Ive got a 700PSS in both. 308 and 300 win mag. Both of which are insanely accurate.
It got even more impressive when he said it was a 10x scope, sure I’ve shot 1000 with my scope on 3x for the fun of it but it’s much easier at 17x or my other scope at 21x I love both oth my 700 builds solid accurate highly customizable

Damn. If this guy can hit a target at 1100 yards resting off of a bag, I have no excuse to not shoot a quarter sized or smaller group at 100 with my 308. I now consider myself inspired.
that's cute… I shoot for miles in nebraska, my neighbors weather vein, is miles away, at this point it's nearly artillery. Yet I can do that with the same R-700 your grandpa had. all the best snipers in the world come from Nebraska and Kansas.

Steyr scout outshoots my heavy barrel free floated 5r 700 until about 5 rounds in. Though Both approach .5 moa. Then the Steyr barrel droops slightly. Especially suppressed.

Pretty cool. I’ve got the same base rifle in a Manners stock cut to 20” and a SWFA 5-20HD scope. My experience has been pretty much the same. It’s a hammer out to 1100 in 2500 – 5000 DA that I’ve shot at.
