  1. My only issues with "budget" rifles is the BCG. If its nitride with a 9310 bolt, it likely will experience premature failure because of improper heat treatment, and an inefficient and potentially rough carrier that could eat gas rings prematurely. I had a PSA nitride BCG that ate gas rings after about a measly 1k rounds or so.

To anyone who has a budget rifle, head over to arftac and pickup a Microbest Phosphate or Chrome BCG. They individually HPT/MPI them and upgrade the springs. They're also only just a hair over a hundred bucks, so easily affordable.

  2. I'm an AK guy but I like the S&W AR. Decent price point. Guns are like cars. Not everyone wants or needs a Corvette. Most folks can, and do get by with a Civic or Accord. Point A to point B. 99% of AR/AK owners are never going to engage a target beyond 100 yds. If they do while being undetected they are stupid. It's stupid to spend $1K on a rifle and another $500 on needless gadgets.

  3. If I can save $350 on the rifle, I can spend $350 on ammo. I'm not overly concerned if the IRS or the Board of Education thinks my gun is ugly.

Looking forward to the rest of the series.

  4. I bought one of those Anderson ar's on primary arms website during their black friday sale for 350. its been 100 percent reliable so far but still havent reached the 1000 round mark yet. my only complaint is the gi aluminum magazine it came with is pure junk and the rails get very hot during practice. i had to buy some rail inserts to mitigate the heat.

  5. Anderson earned a reputation early on. However, every Anderson lower receiver I have built on in the past 10 years has been equivalent to Aero Precision and gage out like BCM and Colt lowers.
