  1. So I found the spot in my area that gets the Amazon returns in my area and sometimes I’ll pop through and see what they are tossing out.

Last night I went by there and found a new in packaging Streamlight TLR8-AG (compact light plus green laser). I took it home and installed the battery that came with it (standard CR123) and at first it didn’t work. So I forced my brain to get a couple wrinkles so I could think a little and went to inspect the PCB. I seen there are 2 parts of the battery cap/LED assembly that are part of the “feature” they call “safe mode” which is a couple plastic tabs in the middle of the battery contact of the PCB that stop the circuit from completing. To get past that, you have to spin the cap about 1/4 turn past what most would consider tight. I’m assuming that is designed for when you wanna store the light for a while but don’t wanna drain the battery. After seeing that, I can understand why someone would buy a light with this set up, install the battery and think it was defective out the box.

The TLR8 I got looks to have the same exact battery set up as the TLR7. If anyone reading this goes to buy one and it doesn’t turn on then try tightening that battery cover down about 1/4 turn past tight (only other way mine would work is if I left it 1/4 turn loose). You might even find one on a deal because of that so if you see one that the seller thinks is broken, it may be worth taking a chance on.

  2. This is why I like the Olights. I have my pistols on a rack in my case. The three with lights have the chargers attached and all I have to do is pull the pistol out and the magnetic charger falls away. Holster compatibility is a headache though.

  3. Not sure you understand rechargeable batteries. BMS is batter management system. Typically used to make sure all cells in a battery pack are charged evenly.
You say almost smart things that sadly will fool idiots. Unfortunately you're just as ignorant. But what is worse, you present yourself like you think you're some kind of brilliant mind.

  4. I never got the surefire simping. Maybe it was the best 25 years ago, but my tiwanese crap seems to have less issues than my buddies mill-spec tacticool hotness. They constanly ask me what brand mine is. Thing is, I don't know. And I have TONS of small falshlights I charge once a year and are fine. If the BMS sucks that bad it's the design, not the battery. You don't need a ton of life on a carry flashlight, as you should only use it for illuminating targets, not flagging the neighboorhood scanning with your muzzle.

  5. I hate the 43x. I bought one of the early ones(so early it was before they had a rail on the 43x which should have never been brought to market since a company like Glock should've known people would want to install lights and shit). The gun has almost no texture and yeah, I get it, it's a concealed carry gun. I still want texture. In fact, I want MORE texture on it because its small and naturally snappy and it is a gun I am entrusting my life to every time I carry it. Next problem is the trigger. The fucking trigger. I am not one of those guys who bitch about Glock triggers. But the 43x trigger is just uniquely bad. It is extremely heavy. Again, I get it. You don't want a concealed carry gun to discharge unintentionally. But again…that's what kydex holsters are for. Realistically missing a shot in a defensive encounter is a much more likely scenario than a Glock unintentionally going off in a kydex holster. Missing in a defensive encounter could cost you your freedom or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Shot accountability for real world defensive use as an ordinary citizen is absolutely critical so a good ccw should have a good trigger. Good doesn't inherently mean light. It means predictable and crisp. The 43x trigger, or at least the 3 43x's I've shot, have all been mushy and inconsistent. By comparison my G19 and G45 both have extremely predictable and crisp triggers. Last issue is capacity. 10 rounds in the current year is not enough. I want at least 12+1. Why? Because every other company, including Palmetto freaking State Armory, has figured out how to fit more than 10 in a gun the size of the 43x and often more than 10 in guns smaller than the 43x.

All of these criticisms are coming from a certified Glock fanboy btw. I have callouses on my middle finger and on my thumb/web of my hand where the "beaver tail" makes contact with my hand. I currently own a G17, G19, G45, G43x, G42, G23, and an old school G21(gen 2, its kinda cool, more of a collectors item than anything).

G19 is still the best Glock imo. For deep concealment I think a P365 is a better option even though I'm not a Sig guy. The 365 never had the 320's issues and its a relatively mature product at this point so it seems dependable enough especially if you've vetted your equipment which you should always do regardless of who makes it.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk on why the 43x sucks. Please clap.

  6. Streamlights been my go-to for that very reason. Im sick of proprietary batteries that WILL fail. At least with disposables, stocking up on them will guarantee their usability for 10ish years. Cannot say the same for rechargables, in use or not.
