Sightmark has a reputation as a joke company that makes airsoft grade optics, including the Ultra Shot red dot. But they also make the “M-Spec” variant of the Ultra Shot which has a more serious design and featureset, and a much higher price tag.
Turns out it’s not that bad, but if you really want that holographic look without the holographic price tag, you’re probably still better off with a Holosun 510.

On the Sightmark The interface between the QD Mount and the sight gets loose over time (or if you drop it went it's mounted) so you can wiggle it from side to side

I'm waffling between the Sightmark M-Spec Fixed mount for $180 + vs $300 + for the Holosun HS510C…for a Ruger PC Carbine….
Of course I like the price of the S.M.
I actually like the look.
I like the battery it uses.
It's waterproof.
But it isn't fog-proof + the shake awake shuts off after ??? hours.
I hear the M-Spec is better than the R + A Spec. ???
But by how much + does it even compare to the H.S. ? Size, quality, clarity, field of view, durability, features, performance, ect.
The reviews of the S.M. seem to be mostly positive from those with first hand experience with it….But no direct
reviews/comparisons between the M-Spec + HS510C.

I had one of these a few years ago and they're really not bad. You can often find the fixed-mount version for $120 – $150. So, yeah, same price as the Romeo 5, but I liked the circle-dot reticle and it used the same battery as my weapon light. The reticle is VERY crisp. Ended up selling it to someone else and recouped most the cost, so can't complain about it all in all.
