My old uniform’s a bit tight.
Anyways, I’ve always loved a good carry handle AR. The classic looks and feel of a rifle length AR is just such a sweet system to shoot and operate. In a world full of shorty carbine hyper optimized ARs, sometimes its nice to return to basics.

I have a bushmaster from early 90's and it is a very accurate rifle , I would call it a target rifle. I have a shorty but I have noticed that I grab the 20" more often. 20" is š
š when we discussed this firearm I was mostly right about it.
Glad you got it. š enjoy
I believe that's a National Match rifle going by the upper configuration, shooting sling and stock weight. I have one of the older Windham Bushmasters as well with a surplus M16A2 upper.
Your rifle is set up to shoot service rifle competition, Iām willing to bet The Barrel is free-floating and the hand guards are fitted to a tube.
It's true we only get to use the Aimpoint's during beast week but when I got deployment training (catm) at my first base they taught to use both irons (matech) and red dot but only had to qualify with the aimpoint. I've seen A2's in the armory, maybe SecFo still uses them sometimes, not sure. I saw a few with the new grenade launchers on them, so who knows. The AF does weird things with their small arms. I've seen m4's with eotech 512's, aimpoints, ta01 acogs, ta31's, etc.
Congrats on the OG bushmaster! Many folks preferred them over Colt's during the Clinton Administration.
I'm waiting for an A1 clone with 1/12 in twist barrel to hit the market myself. The triangular handguards are sorely missed.
