  1. Armalite's new AR10 rifle is the type "A" it is very similar to the SR25 in that it will take Magpul P-Mag's or SR25 magazines. The original AR-10B or Type "B" rifle will use the M-14 waffle magazines.
I purchased a new Armalite type "A" (AR10TAC18) back in 2015 and it is extremely accurate as well as reliable with most 308 and 7.62 NATO ammo. The rifle is a bit on the heavy side weighing a little over 9.5 lbs. without a scope and empty magazine. My example came with Armalites SPR HB match barrel and if you do your part it will shoot MOA with match ammo like Federals 168gr. gold medal match.

  2. "MOTHER FUCKER COCK ASS BIATCH!!" – What someone says when they are building a DPMS 80% and find out that the gaps and tolerances are a grab bag of fun! I am still trying to build a DPMS with FA (Low Profile) after 3 months! I will save you time people! Buy a 80% SR25 version that allows for the Pmags. I believe the fitment for the SR25 version will allow you to find an upper that has a WORKING FA.

  3. That was very informative specially about DPMS Gen 1 and Gen 2. Sir You put the both generations side by side showed that the Gen2 lower is shorter than Gen 1. Could you please give the measurements of both so I can figure out what generation rifle I have.

Normally they say the top of the charging handle will determine high or low but I measured it between 1/8 and 3/16. This makes it me hard to find a compatible handguard and barrel replacement.

    Please advise

  4. I have a very odd LR308 DPMS lower, I'm not sure how to pick my upper, can I send you a photo, the back of my receiver has no curve at all, it goes fully flat, I've never seen one like this.

  5. So what standard is the PA10 upper best compatible with? They claim its only best with its lowers, but I’ve heard hints in the community that it actually does fit and work in some standards fine.

  6. I am looking into building a 308 but I have no clue on what is out there. Still trying to do the research and stuff before I ever think of buying parts… I was leaning more on the LR 308 instead of the AR-10 but IDK!!! Thanks for the info…

  7. I have owned an ArmaLite AR-10 Carbine for 8 years and want to buy a more accurate barrel for it. The online outlets I have contacted tell me they do not have a replacement barrel that will fit. However, your video says they are interchangeable. Can you help me?

  8. Perfect timing. I just ordered an Aero DPMS stripped lower to build my first AR style rifle in big boy caliber. Or should I say I'm building a LR308 in 6.5cm… 🤔🤷‍♂️

  9. When I got my first AR15, I had it built by a custom builder shop with parts I mostly chose. It turned out awesome, but the builder did a few things I would've done differently as I learned more about guns.

I built my own AR10 about 7 years later, based on an Aero Precision M5E1 "Builder Set" in a limited edition burnt bronze Cerakote. That rifle is AWESOME, but it was a real headache choosing parts and navigating the AR10 discrepancies that you mention. In the end, 10/10 would recommend a home build AR, but for 308/large frame ARs, I recommend buying your receivers from the same manufacturer. Truly, I recommend buying the receivers and handguard, and specifically I highly recommend Aero Precision as a manufacturer. I went with a mix of other manufacturers for the barrel, stock, grip, trigger, BCG, charging handle, etc. But I used a matched receiver and handguard set from Aero, as well as their enhanced lower parts kit and couldn't be happier.

  10. This visual article didn't cover half of the incompatibility issues, even within the sr/lr line up. Small pin, large pin, proprietary pins and barrel nuts. 3 different ways manufacturers have adopted the 308 to a more 223 size, rail height and bcg changes due to these large rifles beating the snot out of themselves, primarily due to extreme overgassing, requiring fine tuning of a custom heavy buffer and/or gas block/piston.
Don't get me wrong, after extensive test and tune, I love mine. But I will never buy one again. Lack of standardization tells me to get/build the best one you can afford and make it work.
FYI: Rifle piston, heavy carbine buffer system cause it does not need to be longer especially with plates, and 13.5 pounds. Be prepared.

  11. A great video mate i wish i still had my 1975 issue AR10 with top carry handle as the one on the wall behind you
I would love to win the reaper but im in Australia
    We cant have automatics

  12. I’m about 1/3 into this video and why do you think the DPMS LR308 is a AR15? It’s not an ar15. You can’t get a 308 cartridge or magazine in an AR15. AR15 bcg won’t fit the LR308. I know the things I’m saying are 100% contrary to your “vast expertise” but that’s how wrong you are. Yes the AR10 was the first rifle of the design submitted and was denied acceptance into US armaments, but that’s all, that there’s no 1 standard for an AR pattern 308 rifle. Fun fact per DPMS service any standard AR15 trigger will work
