  1. Don't know much about ar10s, or 15s for that matter, but a 1:10 twist seems on the lowside for that caliber ammunition, so lighter grain would make sense.
I've also heard internet rumors that the chrome lining also doesn't help.
Heavier steel barrel with a more aggressive twist if you want to shoot the heavier ammo

  2. Awesome👍
    Enjoyed the video 😉
I have the same Areo Precision build…mine is with a 16" barrel and the Gama VG6 muzzle break, magpul carbine stock with a flat wire spring..
My battle rifle build also likes shooting the same ammo as you have here in this video. 👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  3. Its better to have a great barrel and pay more, that shoots cheap ammo good, than have a cheaper barrel that a has to shoot expensive ammo. The expensive ammo will kill your wallet. Thx4tv

  4. Hard to say that the rifle is reliable all around without shooting suppressed. Many are these days are running cans, especially with AR10s. That's the reason that many builds need the adjustable gas block to begin with. I'd be curious how the non-adjustable block performs suppressed. Any idea?

  5. I built an AR10, having problems the the Aero precision bolt not going fully into battery. I’ve read that it’s the extractor O ring, I guess I am supposed to take it out, run 200 rds through to break in the extractor spring, then put the o ring back in, and after another 200 rds it should be broke in.

I’m kinda disappointed that is something I have to do, I understand a break in process but seriously?

Has anyone else had this issue with this BCG??

  6. Greetings from Montana! I too am a fan of Aero Precision M5s. I have two of them. The older is a 16 inch Aero CMV barrel with a VG6 Gamma. I have an ACOG TA-11J on it, a Magpul UBR stock, and a Larue single stage trigger. It has about 2000 rounds through it and has been flawless. I probably have about 500 rounds of cheap steel cased Russian shit through it, another 1500 of various types of M80, and it has chugged through all of it without issue. The other is a bit new. I went for a DMR build as well. It has a 20 inch CMV barrel, VG6 Epsilon, Primary Arms 2.5-10×44 Glx, Geissele two stage trigger, and a Magpul PRS stock. I don't have nearly as many rounds through it, but it too has been flawless. Mine really liked both the Hornady 168 gr ELDM and the Precision Hunter 178 gr ELDX. I am planning on hunting with the ELDXs this year.

I noticed you go back and forth between the Magpul and Harris bipod. Do you have a preference? Pros and cons of each? I haven't decided whether I am going to add a bipod, since it is already plenty heavy out front, and I normally just shoot over my pack, but those were the two bipods I was considering, so I thought I would ask.

  7. When I did my build I used the aero adjustable gas block with the same Ballistics Advantage Aero heavy barrel. Right out of the gate I was under gassed. I reset the gas block making sure I was aligned properly with the port. Nothing changed, just malfunction after malfunction (bolt wouldn't hold open on empty mag) . I thought it was my Pmags. No.
So I did the unthinkable…I drilled out the gas port on the barrel opened it a couple thousandths BEFORE I tried a non-adjustable gas block. I tried with the aero adjustable gas block again and still under gassed! It was pooping my spent brass out the ejection port like a Pezz dispenser.
The BA heavy barrel has a rifle length gas system but I was running it on a standard length carbine buffer tube so I bought an Odin adjustable buffer thinking that was the issue. Nope, still undergassed after changing out weights. Than I took a standard AR15 carbine spring, cut a few coils out to get the right length , only used aluminum weights in the buffer and it started to work…but as the gun heated up it went right back to short stroking the bcg.
Now I'm really pulling my hair out!
So I figure i need a rifle length buffer tube, spring and weight. So I buy those and the magpul rifle stock and install. And again…still under gassed!!!
Now I'm pissed off and ready to chuck it all in the dumbster.
Than I wondered if it could be the adjustable gas block by Aero. Surely it couldn't be…could it?
So I bought an Odin fixed gas block and installed it and what do ya know.. I'M OVER GASSED NOW!
Its shucking spent brass at the 1 o'clock out to 10 feet because I drilled the port out on the barrel early on in this shitshow!

In desperation I buy and install a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block and now it shoots beautifully.
Moral of my story is Aero adjustable gas blocks are garbage! Their crappy product cost me hundreds of dollars in parts and ammunition. Caveat emptor…
