Today we’re looking at the most average of average, the middle ground guardian. The person who shows up to the events, and does the exact amount of things to not be annoying, but not impress you. The barrel length that disappears into the crowd, or leaves the party early, and no one notices till they’ve been gone for hours.

My channel is not monetized, I use these cut aways from various sources. IT’s to help my viewers avoid massive levels of boredom leading to the inevitable existential crisis. I’m a talentless hack who is not funny, or intelligent. But I am a solid sleep aid.

  1. Thanks to the boys for shooting with me, and my buddy HAZMAT for sending me some 14.5 footage. So you don't get bored from seeing the same stuff over and over. Also big thanks to the pipe hitters in the cut aways I used for putting in more work for the country that most, including me. Respect.

  2. Thank you for mentioning the part about tone for suppressors. Yes it "feels" more pleasant to have a deeper tone but it doesn't change that you're still losing your hearing with supersonic 556 to some extent. There are sound waves that we can't even hear that might get through our ear channel so why do people act like it's totally safe ?

  3. Wouldn't mind a 14.5, but really all my AR's are 16's and 20's. I like my short 5.56 in bullpup configuration, Steyr AUG. Really short with a 16" barrel and still short with a 20" barrel.

  4. Great video once again. I'm waiting on the next one now lol. You need a chat room or something my dude.
Thoughts on painting rifles (rattle can style)? I can't bring myself to do it.

  5. I gotta say Noveske and Radian are Gucci when Gucci isn't Gucci anymore. Years ago Noveske made great barrels, then they started making a full gun. Radian jumped on the scene with an expensive ambi gun that looked really nice. Buy look, who is running their guns? Seriously? Any big agency or even groups? It's just a select few who run them now and where do they Excell? They don't fit any niche at all in the industry except name and collectible. I've also seen many issues with both. I wouldn't even consider these two lower end. They just don't fit. Sad, cause back in the day the Noveske barrels were fantastic, but present day, nothing special.

  6. If I want an ambi lower, I'd just get an ADM receiver set instead of messing with Radian's lower.

Random question: Have you ever thought about branching out to a completely different round? 6mm ARC is picking up steam in the long range circuit, and I personally love 6.5 Grendel.

  7. I used to be a 14.5 guy but.. when I started my stamp collection and decided I was gonna run everything suppressed I knocked down to the 13's because of muzzle devices and the cans. and being poor with 2 crumb snatches all I run is MEN m193. and because I'm a dick I carry my suppressor alignment rod which is exactly 16in's.

  8. I ranked several spr matches using 14.5” middy guns but like you said it takes a little more work in any distances over 400 meters. I use mk5hd 3.6-18x, proof barrel, adj gas block and centurion upper/lower with jp bcg.

My urgi/colt m4a1 gun does surprisingly good with 55gr but i still use 77 most of the time. It is a very accurate and nimble rifle with mk6 1-6

14.5” is my favorite length as well.

  9. The 5.56 is a great caliber but it needs a 20" … research the ballistics..,.. the problem with that round is anything under a 20", unless it is a specialty round like the 77 and 69 grain stuff (good luck finding that now at a good price) the round does not have the velocity it needs to perform … at range that is… 90% of us have 193 855 stockpiled

  10. Yo what movie is that at 4:50? Or is that the CBS show Seal Team? Anyone on to the topic of the video. I have a mystery meat contract overrun M4 upper(put together by DSA) with a P&W muzzle device. It shoots alright as far as accuracy goes. It's a block 1 style, I may at some point put a DD FSP block 1.5 RIS2 rail on it just because I really like the aesthetic. Currently I just have a MW Industries drop in quadrail(which is quite nice actually, if you like the block 1 style which personally I do, btw I know its not clone correct–i simply do not care).

The one thing about my 14.5 upper in particular that I cannot figure out is–the thing has no recoil impulse. I mean really my reticle does not move. I'd love to chalk this up to my recoil control and maybe to an extent it is but the gun itself does seem particularly well gassed which is surprising because DSA isn't known for making AR15/M4 uppers and the guns they are known for making (FALs) are not generally known to be well gassed lol.

Oh while I'm writing this comment–I got a funny story. Well, maybe funny for you, it wasn't so funny for us. So today I went to the range. I went with my dad and we went in his truck because my vehicle does not have 4wd and we live in a pretty snowy/icey place and they do not plow/salt the rifle range so in order to put your targets out in a timely fashion you have to drive across several hundred yards of pure ice. So we took his truck. Well, AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN TO PUT OUR TARGETS OUT HIS 4 WHEEL DRIVE BROkE. His truck got stuck. Bad. On. A. Rifle. Range. There is no RSO on duty at this particular range. Well, luckily the one other guy who was shooting at the rifle range didn't shoot at us as we worked to get it unstuck. Had to push it out and boy it really fucking sucked. When we went to pick up the targets at the end of our session we just walked down there since by that point the sun had gone down so everyone had to stop shooting anyway.

oh and come to find out the guy who was at the bench area waiting for us to get our truck unstuck had a camera somehow attached to a spotting scope(I guess now I know how the youtubers take their videos!) soooo he probably has some high def footage of me completely busting my ass falling on the ice lmao.

  11. Love your barrel length in depth vids, and I dig the user experience you bring to the table. I would like to see a video on how you go about optics selection, perhaps based on barrel length as well. 🐟

  12. Man, that footage in the beginning – especially 0:24 & 2:04! FLAAAT. Great video as always. Got a newer guy at work that wants to get into ARs and I'm glad your minimum duty quality list mirrored mine. He was Intel, so he didn't have a ton of time behind the gun when he was in, but hopefully he jumps in with both feet. When he does, I'll send him your way.

Admin note: HK45c with 185+P is a dream to shoot. RIP my bank account.

    Keep crushin it.

  13. Yeah, I like shorter muzzle devices for 14.5" so you're closer to 16" OAL instead of having too much excessive length. Forward Controls Design makes some nice ones like the 6315KM flash hider and 1215KM muzzle brake which both use the Keymo interface for Dead Air cans.

  14. Assuming they are all pin/weld to the over all length of 16" barrels, would 13.7 to 14.9 all pretty much fall in the same category of general effectiveness/use cases?

Have a 14" with a pinweld ctn warcomp for that 16" oal (ADCO nailed the length pretty dead on). I really like it but do feel its good up to 300yards, but past that it doesn't have enough punch to really be practically effective. Haha though biases may come from my limited vision trying to see/hear steel move/ring is near imperceivable at those distance on my own.

  15. Was issued a 14.5 KAC upper on a Colt lower when I was active. It's great and all but for whatever reason I prefer the 11.5 Geissle SD LPVO, offset red dot setup I have now as a Civilian. From having my carbine as my backup in my crew serve turret while mounted, or working a traditional Reconissance role in an OP. I would of preferred one gun to do everything. Did PSD work and QRF work to. I feel an 11.5 does everything as a CAV Scout good enough. I don't know personal preference?
