  1. Nice video! Brakes most definitely reduce recoil but my personal opinion is they're not worth the massive increase in concussion and blast unless the recoil level is SO high that the compromise becomes worthwhile. The AR-50 absolutely needs the brake where the side effect of it knocking the snot out of your sinuses with the concussion is a worthwhile tradeoff…but in 5.56 unless you want to annoy other shooters on the line I'll pass.

Closest thing I have to your AR's is a KelTec PLR-16 which has just crazy muzzle blast. Tried their 2 port comp which actually depresses the muzzle with every shot…very weird feeling but the increase in concussion was not worth it and actually blew apart a Bushnell red-dot after just a couple magazines. Went to a Levang linear comp which is MUCH nicer to shoot, though it doesn't reduce the recoil so much it's a nice compromise and fellow shooters thanked me for not sonically assaulting them as before.

  2. I think brakes that shoot gasses directly sideways rather than angled backward, might be less noisy. But won't have as much recoil reduction due to no rearward gas jetting to compensate for forward gas jetting.

  3. Great video! I like the results as far as recoil, I just don't like the blowback. I know that's how these are supposed to work, I have a similar product on a .308 msr. But they really seem to work for reduced felt recoil and follow-up shots.
