I feel like a civilian won't be hampered by the range of a 5.56mm from an AR 15. A 300 (3 and 1/4 football fields mind you) meter effective range is probably way further than most civilians will be engaging from even in SHTF scenarios. Maybe even further with good optics and some high level training. Also, a 5.56 still does a lot of damage to the human body by tumbling. I would also recommend a 5.56mm over .308 for home defense since 5.56mm won't go through as much material as a .308. Plus, you can get 5.56mm rounds that can stop pretty soon after they hit human flesh and fluids. .308 is still great though.

Any BEST AR10 LIST that has A palmento state armory rifle on it, BUT DOES NOT HAVE THE PATRIOT ORDANCE FACTORY REVOLUTION ON THE LIST IN TWO SPOTS, D.I. AND PISTON is a joke of a list. Furthermore there is soooo many better Ar10 rifles out their then half of the crap on this BEST list. S.W.O.R.D. International, POF, KAC, LMT, ZEV Tech, Falkor Defense, Nemo Arms, Grey Ghost Percision, Christensen Arms, Etc. ….So you all think Sig, Palmento State Armory, Aero percision, all make BETTER rifles then any of those manufactures I listed…..what a joke.

Palomino State Armory is a fantastic company with fantastic products. I also like Smithing Lesson M&P, Cougar AR556, the Springsteen Saint, and the Pig Power Tread. All are great rifles from great manufacturers.

Where are you finding even a PSA PA10 at under 1g in 2020/2021?
I have a palmetto ar10 and knew what I was getting into. You're talking about ar10s like it's a 15 just has longer range and more punch, but forget to mention the HUGE weight difference. If you're like me and most others you'll be fine using it for CQC……IF you're training constantly and picking that thing up more than every couple of months (the average shooter). I specifically bought mine for long range,but it's also a hybrid for close quarters and you're adding even more weight when doing so. Also like everyone else, Paul-met-o……not whatever meat and cheese company you're selling.
I'm curious as to who would use a .308 for home defense… unless you're fortunate enough to have some land, and an excellent perimeter system.
