These rounds are made for long distance shots as the standard xm193 55grain bullet loses punch at distances over 200 yards. The standard bullets are more deadly at close range due to higher velocity which penetrates most armor anyway. This report is silly.

I love how the 2nd dude calls it an AR-15 "assault" rifle 1st dude got it right….. This is where misleading begins with terrible Media one siding the out look and creating names to make something sound worse than it is. Remington long rifle shoots 223s and 556 and it's a great hunting rifle but yet they say you can't hunt with an AR-15 that shoots the same ammo at the same speed at the same distance… It's frustrating how dumb we are becoming.

FYI The M855's 62gr green tip projectile won't go through any body armor that a standard FMJ can't, basically any 5.56×45 load will punch clean though soft body amor worn by police. Ironically, only a 55gr bullet fired from a 20inch barrel has any chance of penetrating steel or ceramic rifle rated body armor, basically an retro style M16A1 configuration that has been around the longest is the ideal setup for putting tiny holes into stuff.
