Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant has something that’ll make a lot of AR builders and owners very happy: the AR-15 / AR-308 Professional Armorer’s Wrench from Midwest Industries. Armorer’s wrenches tend to be a lot alike, but MI has added some features that get even veteran AR-15 mechanics like Caleb pretty stoked: (1) Barrel nut wrench that’ll work on any standard AR-15 or AR-308 barrel nut, including encapsulated and pin types. (2) Rifle receiver extension (buffer tube) wrench. (3) Flash hider / muzzle device wrench re-designed to work on an unusually wide variety of devices, even ones with thin flats like Surefires and many suppressor mounts. (4) Castle nut wrench for carbine buffer tubes that ALSO doubles as a wrench for Midwest Industries barrel nuts. Bonus: it’s an open-ended wrench, so it’ll even work on those older, larger-than-normal-diameter pistol buffer tubes. (5) Two ½” torque wrench drive sockets. (6) A hammer and a (7) “Tactical” bottle opener for folks who enjoy some “cold snacks” while working on their ARs. Bonus: torque values for the barrel nut, castle nut, and flash hider are forged right INTO the side of the tool! So it’s clear this ain’t no sissy bargain-bin gadget but a proper, sturdy, hefty AR-15 wrench made of solid steel in the U.S.A. and built to last.

  1. Nice looking wrench! I have two Colt LE6920s that don't have the standard receiver extension castle nut. They have a smooth nut with two round holes 180 degrees apart from each other. No one seems to make a wrench to fit these. Would this wrench work with these nuts? Thanks.

  2. Midwest Industries: Goes to the detail level of putting common component torque values right on the wrench sides in raised lettering.
Also Midwest Industries: Misspells "castle" in "Castle nut" as "Castel Nut" (as seen 1:091:18, roughly)

No Caleb … you have the new armorer's wrench
The rest of us have to PRE-ORDER it.
Hate pre order, but had to do it. Because as soon as the pre orders are filled… out of stock.

  4. From the markings on the wrench it seems to be sintered out of powder metal rather than machined from a solid billet. Great tool nonetheless

  5. Man I went to your guys web store. Trying to get a 7or 8 Rd mags for my Springfield XD subcompact.everyone out of stock.thought for sure you guys would have one.my subcompact came with 2-10 RDS mags, so the grip is same size as my 4in XD service. And I'm a little guy, needed smaller carry.

  6. I'm actually stopping by the Midwest Industries HQ / store later today, so I'll tell them they spelled castle incorrectly on their wrench.
But they do make a solid product, so I'll just give 'em some shit…

  7. Would like to see a video on selecting gas block, tube, and free float installation replacing a2 setup. Midwest products or whatever is best bang for the buck. What length for a s&w m&p II or Ruger 556.
