  1. Glad I didnt buy them pins, foil tape go to the AC supply house tell them you are taping a heater vent pipe. Tiny bit top of magwell above the takedown (pivot pin) pin Clean it first!
    Makes it goodntight

  2. Tension pin replacing the rear Take down pin. Unlike all the other "fixes" it pulls the upper and lower together instead of pushing them apart. It does take longer to strip because you would now have to remove your TDP with a allen key but it makes them super solid and tight. VERY SLIGHTLY improved accuracy as well

  3. Also raising the upper off the lower with a wedge or ear plug can cause fail to feed malfunctions due to mag being to low in relation to bolt causing bolt override

  4. There a little wedge you can place between the two to help eliminate that play. Also aero precision m4e1 have an adjustment screw to tighten that down. Not sure about other lower. I would think some have the same.

  5. AR15 is shit… reason 3255623523.
Eugene stoner copied the STG44, and instead of the pivoting trigger group, he merged the lower and magwell. Its a stupid choice, so much stress, especially if you're gun is heavy, is on the front pin. And if you're running a polymer lower, heat spreads through it. And the captive takedown springs with their little springs and divets, is stupid. Is this a target rifle or battle rifle?

  6. you worry to much, all that stuff you stressed about isnt even a issue, once wedge is in its not coming out without grabbing it with needle nose, their is also x shims, the accuwedge will not make the slop worse, ignoring the slop will make the slop worse

  7. A economical way to fix it is to fill holes in upper where pins go thru with jb weld or the stuff in auto stores you kneed together and let dry completely, then you slowly drill the holes to size of your pins for a tight fit….. problem fixed

  8. Someone should sell pins that are like 6 thou larger in diameter but supply a hand reamer with it. If you ream the hole to fit the machined pin it will be much better.

  9. The Accu Wedge costs about $4, is quick and easy to install, and have lasted for decades in the ARs I've put them in. Once installed and mashed into place they fit tightly in the lower and don't fall out or move when you open the gun. I was skeptical at first. You really should try one out before you bash them. The only downside is that it may make it bit tougher to push out the rear pin. But, you want the tighter fit, right?

  10. Electrical tape….

Three thin strips placed on the lower's flat surface where it mates to the upper's flat surface.

Take a little rubbing alcohol (that you've stashed to avoid catching the Communist Flu), and wipe the area down where you'll tape it. Two short thin strips right in front of the rear pin (just in front of the large radius on both sides), and one thin strip on forward flat of magwell (just behind pivot pin area). Use hobby knife to trim perfectly.

This avoids buying Accuwedges, or O-rings, or an ear plug, which can come loose, only last a week or two, or put pressure on one area, essentially. Most people have free rolls of electrical tape just laying around.

Adjust amount of tape accordingly. Might only need a tiny bit, might need longer strip or whatever. Figure it out based on pin pressure required and witness marks on tape.

  11. I put the shims up front on mine. I don't take my upper completely off 98% of the time so it's not a issue loosing them or anything like that. It took almost all the play out of my rifle.

  12. I oil the upper mating surface and put jb weld on the lower mating surface and assemble them with a piece of aluminum foil near the front pin. Once the jb weld has dried I add more where the aluminum foil was to completely fill the gap between the upper and lower. As long as the upper had a thin layer of oil on it the jb weld won't stick. This usually requires a fair amount of force to insert the pin so I will then file or sand to fit.

  13. Check out the m4e1 lower next build.. they have a set screw that reduces play.. and I use a cmmg kit that came with .246 pins .. but there is no slop, up down.. left to right there is maybe .25mm (granted yours is worn in so that will change on mine too given time). Those pins like identical to the Heavy duty cmmg pins that came in my kit.

  14. In 10 years of highpower competition with the ar15. I've given up on the slop issue. I've bedded them in fiberglass, devcon, reamed the holes to. 255 with. 2545 pins, ect. These methods will eliminate slop entirely for a while but in a year or so of heavy use your right back to square one. My current "space gun " has tons of slop and shoots fine. We did extensive testing and found out that there are a lot more things to do to accurize an ar than fighting the fit between the 2 receivers.

  15. My lower has a tapped hole for installing a set screw that pushes against the rear takedown pin. It's located inside the grip. Works great.

  16. Ive been on a kick buying cheap anderson lowers. Ive mainly bought anderson LPK's to finish them and ive noticed some issues in adjoining them to other brands. One of them i matched to a 20" palmetto upper. I have to crank down on the rear to get the rear take down pin to lock. I also i stalled a cmc 3.5lb trigger in it and it was INCREDIBLY hard to get installed. Another build i have this issue with my lower and upper rocking. Its mated to an 18" ss heavy barrel by radical firearms. Its not a quality feel with this much slop in it. I like the idea of thicker pins so i appreciate the video. Gives me some place to start. I feel 2 out of 4 anderson lowers having out of spec dimensions is unacceptable and lacks quality control. Ill pay $20 more for aero precision next go around.

  17. I was worried about the play between the upper and lower of my ar15, but it is about what you ended up with after the new pins; so i guess for now it is all good. Thanks for the video.

  18. This video saved me from a stroke, I bought a new upper and lower put them together and there was slop and I was thinking is mine the only 1. The slop is like a 1/3 of the slop yours has after the new pins installed.
