Lost three microstream lights in a year and a half, this time I'm going with the macrostream bc I want a chunkier pocket light
So what’s best for the batteries, keeping the charge topped off, or wait till it is almost dead?
How would you compare this to the protac 1l-1AA? Good comparison? Or the 2l maybe?

I just got one, and if it is turned off for 3 minutes, it defaults to powering on in low mode. I cannot get it to power on in high mode as the default setting. Is my light broken? Or is that how it’s supposed to work? Also, when it defaults to powering on in low mode, if I I turn it of while in low mode, then turn it directly back on, it powers on in high mode. But, if it sits turned off for 3 minutes, it defaults back into powering on in low mode again.
The odd thing is, I cannot set it to power on in high mode, or low mode. It always defaults back to low mode, when turned off for 3 minutes. Even if I double tap it to low mode, while in high mode and leave it on in low mode; once I turn it off, it powers on in high mode – unless it is turned off for 3 minutes, in which case it defaults back to powering on in low mode.
I’m wondering if I should give Streamlight a call.

From an idiot’s perspective , it seems to me that if they chrome lined the sleeve it might help focus the beam somewhat if it is extended. But, I really have no idea what I’m talking about, LOL

Ah, sorry Mr Guns&Gear but the Microstream isn't AAA. it's 10440. Different voltage and slightly different size.

I've got the impression that Streamlight did the perfect pair of EDC lights out there. Balanced, compact and down-to-the-point capabilities.
Just came in the mail today after a long wait. Must have got a dud, because this macro doesn't appear to be any brighter than my micro…both fully charged. What gives??? I only buy this crap after watching these reviews.
How do you think the Macrostream compares to the Protac 2lx? I currently have a microstream usb and a hlx usb. The former is a little underpowered and the latter isn't really pocket friendly. I'm debating on which of the two wrong be the perfect medium
I've had horrible luck with streamlight stylus pros and micro stylus pros. Works for maybe a week and then stops working. Sample group is over several years with 2 regular stylus and 4 micros. Survival rate is usually a couple months max.
