NASCAR bans AR-15 ads

Nascar has reportedly banned all advertisements featuring assault weapons due to a “gradual shift” in the company’s position on guns.⁣ Let me get this straight, a sport that was born out prohibition and anti-government sentiment with a core audience that owns more guns collectively than the united kingdom doesn’t want to run ads with ar15s in them?

The oddiest thing is how they are so worried about school shooters in lilly white neighborhoods but dont give a fuck about the gang violence that occurs every day in every major city in the country. Thats a real issue that can be solved relatively simple but those in power in those cities use the gangs to sustain themself.

  18. I quit watching nascar when they broke the races down into 3or 4 sections in order to make something more fare? Or save on fuel? I still haven’t figured out why. They used to go 300 400 500 miles now it like 275.3 miles or some crap. Someone told me it’s so the crews can tweak things during brakes. I say put it out there and push it till it pops. Then you’ll know who the best is. Next they’ll all be getting trophies for participating

  20. Can we expect another "gradual shift in the company's (NASCAR) position"? Maybe they'll start turning down advertisement dollars from beer companies. Perhaps they'll refuse advertising dollars from soft drink companies. Here's an idea for them- stop playing our racist national anthem before your races.
    Keep it up, NASCAR. In 20 years or so your television contracts will have disappeared and in your few remaining races pit stops will become hours long affairs as crew members of a souped up Toyota Prius desperately battle to correctly plug in the recharge cable while dozens of fans watch breathlessly. Unless that is, all the race tracks have been converted to host renaissance fairs.

  41. I was an avid diehard fan of Nascar for years until this year because it has become commercialized to the point it's not even racing anymore. This year the only races I'm interested in watching is Talladega and Daytona but now I'm not interested in those because of this move. The sport has been on a tremendous decline for years now all you have to do is look in the stands and see this. I'm only one person and me not watching is not going to hurt them any further but with this move I'm sure I'm mnot going to be the only one and I can see that the televised schedule will contain fewer races do to ratings because of this. This was a not so smart business decision on Nascar's part.

All because a bunch of spineless money hungry supposedly conservative flag honoring freedom loving proud of our country use to be’s sold out, bent the knee and bowed down.   46. Nascar sucks anyway. I used to be a fan until they started bouncing from one network to another. I will not buy cable just to watch what should be broadcast on tv. This is just icing on the cake for me. No longer a fan hope they go broke.
