This stunning high-speed video of .223 77gr TMK vs drywall clip is from a test I performed for TFB TV comparing relative penetration of .223 77gr TMK, 9mm 124gr HST, and 12ga 00 buckshot when fired through gel, a simulated wall, and more gel. The TMK penetrated the least. The full video is available here:

  1. False. I tried it. This video doesnt include a screaming wife asking why i shot the TV. Doesn't matter to her that i saved the family from that MSNBC news anchor.

  2. My experience: First layer of sheet rock
First and second layer of square HVAC duct (galvanized, not sure the guage)
Two strands of copper wire with insulation
One sheet of 1/4 press board
Bullet wedged between press board and sheet rock in the second wall. Round was a black hills 77gr otm.

  3. Tons of things like this out there showing that with proper ammo in the proper platform than 5.56/.223 will penetrate less than 9×19 or 00 buck in the same scenarios. And I can believe it because I've seen it and tested things like this myself.

Of course most of those tests are worst case scenarios where you miss completely. But one thing with shotguns is, you A, dont just have to use 12 gauge and B, dont have to just use 00 Buck, #4 Buck is an excellent load that will get the job done too without these concerns.

  4. Speaking of home defense because I saw the video on tfbtv also, some people who defend 45aarp argue that it's good for home defense to reduce overpenetration when like you concluded its more important to know what your shooting than worry about overpenetration which is another reason I dont know why 45aarp is still a thing other than maybe for m1911 pistols

  5. I am in search of a caliber…. For AR15 since I already have a lower… Built for a rifle.
Elk, bear, Ram etc Oregon minimum Caliber is centerfire .24 cal.
Well, is a 6.5Grendel good enough? Or do I HAVE to pop into a Full rifle caliber? If so, I'm buying a .308 lever action Model 99 FTW
