Here’s a review of the Aim Surplus NiB BCG. I do some shooting with it, talk about some of the benefits of NiB, go over the specs, and what I think of it overall.

  1. I've done quite a bit of research on these and they seem to be getting pretty good reviews across the board. They are 99.99 shipped and I think I'm gonna pick one up. I hope it works out well in my PSA AR I'm building. Nothing fancy just need a good ol reliable rifle.

  2. You don't mention what buffer weight you're running with it. I'm running a standard 3 oz. buffer weight and wonder if the extra mass of a full auto BCG is going to cycle properly.

  3. As a welder with many years of experience, 9310 heat treated steel is more than enough to make a proper and very good quality BCG. I don't understand why people think that it is an inferior metal. I mean if you buy a fly by night $50 special 9310 cheapo bottom barrel garage shit build special, that hasn't been properly treated then yeah it will be crap. But then again if you put any kind of machined steel BCG that hasn't been properly treated in a weapon, well it is going to fail and fail rather quickly and with a greater chance of catastrophic( breaking in half or blowing up) than a properly made and treated product regardless of the type of steel it is made of.

  4. all I can hope is all these guys rush out to buy the expensive NiB bolts so I can buy their barely used regular bolts off them dirt cheap. never had a problem with my standard BCGs, not even cleaning wise.

  5. I am going to purchase a BCM upper and i can add the BCM bolt carrier group and charging handle for 69 dollars. My question is should i just go with that or get AIM surplus NiB and then buy the charging handle separate. I know normally NiB would be better but you can get them for 100 bucks now and that makes me think maybe this is a lesser quality BCG even though its NiB. I have heard people say before that the BCM bolt carrier group is probably in the top 3 bolt carrier groups period…

  6. Mike, quick question for you; I have an unfired Smith & Wesson M&P Sport and I just purchased an Aim Surplus Nitrided V2 BCG. Should I head space check it or should I just assume that S&W did their job and installed the barrel correctly? You test lots of BCG's – would you test a brand new, factory built gun when paired with a brand new Aim Surplus BCG? I wouldn't think it imperative that I should. Some people say to never worry about it. What are your thoughts?

  7. Great review, I have been looking at a Spiked nib BCG for my 10.5 SBR before I came across this vid, Now seeing this one thats almost $100 less I'm trying to compare the two and see why the spikes cost $100 more, I have no problem paying more for quality parts  but I feel like I'm missing something between the two, having fired this one do you think it's on par with other more expensive BCG's?

  8. First I wanna say I love your channel I've learned so much from watching your videos. My question is what are the benefits if any to having a light weight bolt carrier group.

  9. random question… shooting regular ol federal .223 I've been getting sort of brownish stains on my carrier and bolt.  After cleaning them off and lubricating the bcg it functions just fine, however the stains seem to be still there, and I can't seem to be able to remove them… have you run into this at all?

  10. What are your thought on piston AR15s do you think they are worth the money or more reliable than DI. I am happy with the pro/cons of the 556 I live in city/rural area. I like to have the same calibers. Would you get an piston AR or build a traditional DI. I already have a fee ARs. So I might just get this BCG to help with the reliability. Piston systems I was looking at are POF P415 and Sig 556/516 what do you think of those?

  11. Thanks for the info. I have been looking at bcg's for my dpms and now I am gonna get this one. Nothing wrong with the one I have I just want to get a better one and also to have a backup.

  12. That's a good price.. Are there any benefits from some of the other higher priced nib bcg's out there. I'm looking at the materials used and most are made from the same material.. Aim compared to someone like Spikes etc…. I look forward to Ur content

  13. Have you installed your 5.45×39 bolt in this? I just received my BA 5.45 bolt and it will not fit. I tried it in a Daniel Defense bolt carrier and it fit. I wonder if the coating on the inside brought the carrier out of spec…
