So what does $129 get you these days in terms of a completed, mil-spec lower? The PSA PA-15 lower gives you a good idea. Build quality is excellent, just one or two spots in the finish which classified this lower as a blemeshed model which with the application of some CLP or Rem Oil should seal in the finish just fine. This lower is part of a mid length gas system upper with a 16″ carbine length barrel.

  1. I still want to see that Ammo Cat Seal of Approval splash up on the screen whenever he (she?) makes an appearance.

The FFL fee is why I bought my stripped lowers locally and just ordered the lower build kits from PSA. I paid about $54 for the first one and $43 for the other. The parts kit runs about $80, so I a total of $134 for the first and no FFL fee.

  2. hey when it comes to forged lowers they all come from the same few places…you might have forge marks on the lower some where (look for a C, a keyhole, or other markings)…often times the cheap lowers are either military contract rejects or direct purchase from places like psa, but the quality should be fine.
