During a hearing tonight in the Senate Judiciary Committee, your state Senator John Cooper turned his back on law-abiding gun owners and their right to self-defense by voting against Senate Bill 484.  Unfortunately, the bill was unable to secure a majority vote and failed in part due to your Senator’s vote.  Contact Senator John Cooper and voice your disappointment in his vote against your right to self-defense.

Senate Bill 484, sponsored by Senator Bob Ballinger and Representative Aaron Pilkington, would have removed the ambiguous and confusing language in Arkansas’ current duty to retreat statute. Further, this legislation would have explicitly stated that law-abiding citizens do not have the duty to retreat when exercising their right to self-defense.

Your NRA-ILA will continue working to advance this and other pro-gun measures on behalf of our members in Arkansas.  Again, please contact your state Senator, John Cooper, and tell him that you are disappointed in his vote on Senate Bill 484.
