  1. @mrgunsngear, after I follow this procedure, and my barrel is installed, am I good to go to the range? No need to measure anything so long as it's a quality barrel assembly and I follow the torque specs with good equipment?

  2. Thank you mrg. Just what I needed. I have seen some gsmiths tighten and release the barrel 3 times for some reason and that has confused me as to what they are doing. I think you showed me that is not necessary. Also recently I saw an auto mechanic use a digital torque wrench and that was a slick tool. Great job. thx.

  3. Just out of curiosity, if I torque the barrel nut down to 30 ft lb, but the teeth haven't lined up properly – and if I'm able to apply more torque to get the teeth to line up with the port for the gas tube and still stay under 80 ft lbs…any particular reason this wouldn't be a good way? Does it have to do with "seasoning" the threads to the receiver? Again just curious.

  4. are retainers interchangeable between barrels ?…. the reason i ask is because i want to change my barrel to a longer one and have a mid length gas block instead of the carbine length gas block i have now.
