Good shooting.. What is an Amax round?
Also the so called brass deflector is not for deflecting but designed for brass damping . Depending on mission, some of us Rangers and other special forces would need to recover our brass to leave little or no trace to our position or existence or at least to make it as difficult for the enemy as possible to determine when we were there if ever.. And so.. Collecting brass after an engagement is important. Prior to the brass deflector, the AR would throw the brass 30 feet or more scattering it everywhere !! Heck , it would throw it so far and so hard it would break mirrors and glass on our Jeeps and trucks !! A soldier 20-30 feet away would get burned !! So.. By using a brass deflector or damper helped a ton in brass collection in the field to leave no trace, also helped with other functions as well.. Good addition for sure. The min 14 still has the problem. Maybe worse.
The original design had a forward assist on top and the guard was installed to protect it. It was not designed to be a carry handle. No many if any soldiers ever used it to carry as we always used the sling. I did use it a lot in my Deuce and 5 ton as the window hinge fit inside it and held my weapon nicely for easy access when needed… 🙂
I like the M1As.. Im not humping miles a day so Im not worried about the weight. But I like the M&P sport 2 also .

You said the rifle was only limited by the capacity of the mag, i started cracking up as im listening to JM the fastestest shooter say this! Wouldnt it most be limited by not having being JM finger! Lol
