When AR15s are Illegal: SCR Rifle Review

Living in a restricted state? Maybe you’ll find the SCR Rifle is legal there. Lacking those “evil” military features like pistol grip, collapsible stock, bayonet lug, and apparently last shot hold open (!), the SCR might just be the ticket. But as the video kicks off you’ll see we start off with a broken rifle…what?! Yep. But that’s explained and we dig into the outings that seemed to indicate the SCR is a smooth shooting, accurate, and fun platform. It is compared against the KelTec SU16CA which is still highly recommended. A fun GRV that you’ll like and that will help TNPrs living behind “behind enemy lines” who might have to possess only “featureless” rifles.

  1. i went to the gun store and i wanted an AR-15 for a long time but i fell in love with the mini-14 because my dad and other family members worked in California corrections and there rifle of choice was the mini-14. Then i fell in love with the kel tec 16-ca for i can have a cheap rifle that's light weight and i do not have to worry about it being heavily regulated gun for it is featureless. Thank you Nutn for the videos and getting me to spend $1200 on 2 great rifles.

  2. Loved the cut away videos! Not sure what the other guys are talking about, but the meme style of video editing totally makes you accessible to a younger (Millenial) audience!

  3. I'd say send her back, get her fixed, and do testing round two with updated information where needed. Otherwise an interesting design for those in the occupied territories, and a good informative video as always. Keep up the great work.

  4. One nice thing I found with that rifle is it fits in containers that an AR will not due to the pistol grip sitting out too far. That makes it a better cashe rifle. I really wish it had a last shot hold open though. The lack of that is really holding it back, and I am not sure why it does not have it.

  5. Nothing you've said would make me want to purchase this over any other option similar to the SU. In no way would I "highly rate" this. There are already options to make a featureless AR which allows full AR component use. Seems to have no place in the market. Build a featureless utilizing those law conforming components and have a modified AR, don't buy a fumble like this.

  6. Quick question I wanted to open up to you and your viewers. Now that that the Micro Roni is a thing and ar pistols and armbraces are a thing, what is holding Magpul back from producing a semi-auto only capable FMG-9 type gun? Keep up the great videos!

  7. If you have to use charging handle every time on a reload I would just use my shooting hand's thumb to actuate the mag release, can grab mag in same motion, might have been what they were thinking

  8. Ruger Mini 14's have been excluded from Federal ban lists since I have been paying attention to these issues, early 2000's. That is something to keep in mind as well, if we do in fact get a big swing blue in Congress etc. I doubt that happens as most people I talk to are becoming disenfranchised with the Dem party as a whole, even people that have been lifers 60+ year olds, and can't imagine voting republican, they just won't turn out to vote.

Also, dudes been losing some serious weight it looks like, that awesome.

  9. I have one of these in NY state, steel jams the crap out of it, but brass seems to work fine. I have also over lubed the crap out of it by accident, so that may have something to do with it. Just my experience.

  10. Once my G19 locked closed in a casing with a LARGE burr or something. I had to get a screw driver from the guys to pry it open. Two grown men couldnt rack the slide no matter how much we tried. When I pried open the chamber and got the casing out I could see what locked it up. Just a messed up case from a cheap box of remington brass.

Doesnt matter what gun youre shooting you could always potentially render it doa with something as small as a fucked up round you had nothing to do with

  11. Honestly, I kind of like the look of the SCR but have seen too many with issues of locking up bad. Always thought these would essentially put the Mini-14 out of business if they were working right though. I mean, it's got that potential but despite the issues the Mini-14 has, it at least works. Even the Kel-Tec SU-16 is a great competitive option, but it is not legal in certain states sadly.
