In this video we showcase a very unique rifle, the CMMG Mutant. This rifle is a true marriage of the AR-15 and the AK-47 rifle platforms. The Mutant uses a robust AR-10 base upper and bolt carrier system rather than standard AR-15 components in order to strengthen the system. This is a very welcome feature that is unique to the Mutant, and makes the rifle extremely tough.

We are also showcasing the M-300 BLK AR Optic from Nikon. This optics features a BDC reticle for 300 Blackout that works very well with 7.62x39mm. Stay tuned to the video for more details on this great rifle and optic and demonstrations of its potential.

  1. I gotta get me one of those! I see an occasional problem with this rifle. But these vids are 2 to 3 years old and hopefully CCMG has worked out those bugs. I have contacted CCMG and asked them about it and they say they HAVE been evolving this gun and those issues have been addresses. Can't wait to hear back from my contact who's going to Shot Show 18 and will be looking into CCMG in person with an eye on the Mutant.

  2. DAMM.. I wanted to find something about this firearm NOT CRAP about ammunition. Please title your videos based on the contents.. this title should be "fun with WATERMELONS. (I'm just saying)

    ALL BLACK RIFLES MATTER

  3. ITs funny to see other channels complain about the CMMG but I was thinking to myself, what if its just the channels and they dont know how to lube/clean the gun or just shoot it out of the box, Thanks for being a good video about the CMMG, DEF want one 🙂 Thanks for the video, keep it up!

  4. This video helped me decide to get this rifle last year and I still more than happy with it. I did have an issue with the carrier digging into the round in the magazine as it loaded the next round into chamber. I fixed the problem, it feeds flawlessly and with the Geissele trigger I've never had a light primer strike.

  5. So, I've recently discovered cmmg, and love where they're going as a company. But, in terms of this rifle, I have questions. Why could they not incorporate a way to hold the bolt back, like on an ar15? Such coolness, but it seems like they missed a couple of great opportunities.

  6. I love the accuracy and modularity of my AR but I love the form and function of my AK. I must have this weapon!!!!! It would be cool if they could find some way to incorporate wood furniture somewhere on the weapon but still leave the rail where it is.

  7. So I have a couple of questions pertaining to the Mutant (any one is welcome to answer):
    1) Would switching out the gas system for a piston system be an issue (besides the gas key)?
    2) If so, would it be an issue with fitting (e.g. too large for handguard) or an issue with function?

I'm asking these questions because I'm looking at getting an SBR Mutant. I want to run it suppressed, possibly experimenting with some 7.62x39mm sub-sonic loads I have data for. The only thing I'm unsure about is gas blowback in a short barreled and suppressed DI rifle. As a southpaw, this can be a real issue. Thanks!

P.S. I figure since I already own an AK that takes a NATO caliber with STANAG magazines, I might as well get a "Communized" AR. ;D

  8. I watched LT. Col. Nutnfancy checking out the MUTANT vs a Century Arms RAS-47. The MUTANT had a lot of primer fail to fire, failure to load. The AK ate all the different types of ammo that they fed it. The same mags were used for both guns.

  9. More light primer strikes! My assessment at this point after watching and reading many videos and articles on the gun is to wait until CMMG fixes the issue with the rifle before I even consider dropping 1800 dollars on it.

  10. I bought a Palmetto KS47 which is essentially the same gun. I've had the same issues with certain mags! Just stick with the mags that work right? Other than that and a pin backing out (which I fixed with a new pin) it's been a great accurate shooter and unique gun. Great video man, keep up the great work!
