My parents gave me a semi auto .22 rifle at age 14, in 1973, and allowed me to take it out by myself. We lived in the mountains of northern Arkansas at the time and I hunted squirrels and raccoons. I never shot or attempted to shoot anybody. Things were different back then. Very different.
