North Carolina’s legislature sits in adjournment after officials in Raleigh finished budget negotiations and Governor Stein approved their proposed funding package.
The legislature turns its focus to July 27th, where members of the General Assembly will consider unfinished business meeting certain criteria from the 2025-2026 sessions.
Amongst what can be considered on the 27th is veto overrides; meaning S50 – A bill allowing permitless carry in the Tarheel State – could be heard.
S50 passed in 2025, before being vetoed by Stein. The Senate has since voted successfully to override the veto. The bill now sits in the House of Representatives, where a supermajority of votes is required for it to become law.
Stay tuned for updates as the legislature nears completion in North Carolina.
