I prefer to dimple my barrel when installing a gas block. Here I’m using a Kaw Valley Precision .625 profile jig for my Superlative Arms adjustable gas block on a @FaxonFirearmsOfficial 10.5” pencil profile 5.56 barrel with a 1:8 twist.
Alignment is everything. The jig makes that much easier. Don’t forget to use a quality carbide tipped drill bit or you’ll have a much harder time. Thread locker is OPTIONAL. I’m a go big, or go home kind of guy. I have no intention of taking this block off so red Loctite is my choice to keep the screws from backing out.
