  1. I don't know why you're not getting better accuracy? I have 3 of these and use the so called cheap ass bulk ammo, armscor, cci, winchester, etc. My barrels are all 1in8 twist and they all are way more accurate than yours is. Just letting you know.

  2. Had my cmmg conversion for like 6 years now, never had an issue with the kit itself, some ammo related issues though, but that's with a lot of 22lr ammo. I have a DPMS with a 1:9 twist barrel and rifle is accurate enough. From out to probably 50yrds or so, haven't missed a squirrel yet. Also, seems the newer kits aren't quite as tight as the old ones. Like the extension that goes into the chamber is a little looser in the bolt assembly and bolt has a bit of rearward play, not letting the carrier fit all the way into the chamber. I've heard of guys putting a quarter between the buffer and bolt to take up the slack, seems to help a lot.

  3. I love using that 22 adapter. I shoot off my deck all the time. We used to use those back in the 80s in the National Guard for training all the time, our arms room had a bunch of them. Our armory had a 25 yard range and we could go back to 50 and shoot Alt C qualifications right there at the armory.

  4. I have two of the conversions. I have the original, which I've had for maybe 15 years, and the new model. They're great out to 100 yards on steel. I give zero shits about groups with the conversion.

  5. My conversion kit keeps moving in my receiver. Because it bounces back and forth slightly, it causes the casings to get caught every 3 to 5 rounds. The pin also doesn't hit properly a lot of the time and I'm guessing its because of the same issue. It seems like it should stay still, so the kit can function properly. As of now….its unpleasant to shoot, so it just stays in my range pullie. And it does it with every ammunition. Sucks!😒

  6. I probably have 100k through my conversion kits (3 kits, 2 manufacturers) over the past 20 years. 5 MOA is about what you can expect. Wind, twist rate, and transonic velocities are the biggest factors in my experience. 50-75 yards is the usable range. It scatters hard after that distance.

For comparison, my 10/22 is getting 1/2" groups with the same ammo, same distances. So an extra 2 inch spread is very observable. Still fun. Great exposure for newer shooters. They tend to jam on subsonic ammo. Buy the set of springs if you are changing ammo selections.

  7. cut a 3/4" pvc pipe 1" long plug and stick it in the buffer as you close the upper, it will put constant pressure on the bcg and may get you better accuracy…. i need to do a video with the dedicated upper I built and see how much better it is.

  8. There are a couple things you are overlooking. The accuracy of the 22LR is not just due to the twist. In fact, the twist may be the least of the problems. Look at the jump of the projectile through the free bore to get to the rifling on the 22LR kit. The projectile has to free bore through the length of the whole case plus the original free bore of the 223 round. That alone is the kiss of death. Then you have the difference in the groove diameter of the barrels or the diameter of the project tiles in use. 22LR is on average about .001 less than a .223 or 5.56. So depending on the tolerances or spec of the barrel, you’re using your 22 LR bullet could be getting gas cut pretty bad. One last thing the chamber of the 22 LR kit is actually free floating inside the chamber of the 5.56 rifle. For any kind of consistent accuracy the cartridge needs to fit relatively securely in the chamber being fired in. The 22LR conversion kits are merely a convenience or a way to have fun. And they are fun. But do not use this as a comparison of 22 LR accuracy versus 5.56 accuracy. There’s not even a direct comparison here.

  9. Good enough for running close drills cheaper than 556 ammo. While I'm sure the conversion unit may work better or worse rifle to rifle, brand to brand it may or may not be good for small game hunting.

  10. CCI Mini Mag, work in my 1/7 BCM as well as the G19 Gen 5 Conversion. The G19 conversion though suppressed is hit or miss on reliably firing in succession. My rifle though seems just fine with Mini Mags. I do only shoot at 50 yards. .22LR isn't a tac driver at 100 for any of my rifles.

  11. mine is more accurate than this and I get very good accuracy from Armscor 22LR in every 22LR rifle I own, the Aquila seems to be accurate also, but one if the most accurate 22LR in my rifles is CCI Blazer (Actual CCI Blazer and not the Federal made stuff that CCI was selling as 22 Blazer ammo back in the shortage years back, that stuff was junk…LOL

Subsonic CCI ammo with 45gr Bullet seems to be very accurate in mine also.

  12. My guess is 3-4x the group size with the .22lr. I don't think it would make that much of a difference if you just hit targets, but I want to group sizes. CCi SV isn't really that accurate .5/.6 moa groups at best with the best gear. At only 50 yards I don't think it is far enough in order to any difference between 5.56 and .22lr especially with plinking ammo. Seeing the set up I'm not going to finish the video I'm not going to really learn what I was expecting.
